Here’s The Most Critical Element You Need To Achieve Balance With Your Career and Relationships

My family is the most important thing to me in this world. Nothing comes above them.

And an important question I get asked all the time relating to this is: how do you balance your family and loved ones with career success?

Is it even possible to reach the highest levels of success while maintaining happy personal relationships?

I’m here to tell you that yes, it’s possible — but it requires a heck of a lot of balance.

Let’s start at the root of why people work: most people are on the treadmill of work for money. They get on that treadmill, and it just keeps on going faster and faster.

And if they keep going this way, at some point they will end up broke and broken… with nothing to show for all their hard work and time.

Why does this happen to so many people? Simple. Because most people don’t realize that they are responsible for every part of their lives.

The truth is, you create your life not just every day, not just every hour, but every single second.

So if you’re struggling to find balance in your career and relationships, well… that’s on you.

Everything in our lives, within reason, is a choice, and you need to understand that anything you don’t have right now is your choice.

In particular, if you find yourself constantly putting work ahead of your relationships, and you wonder why you’re alone on Saturday night every week or your spouse is constantly upset with you because they feel neglected… well, it’s pretty obvious.

It’s your choice.

One of the most important lessons in life that you can learn is that life doesn’t happen to you; you happen to life.

Now, I’m not blaming you for how your life has panned out. But it’s your creation. That job is your creation. That income is your creation. That relationship, or lack thereof, is your creation.

The great news is that you’ve got control of the steering wheel of your life. That means you can turn a little to the left, or a little to the right, or make a complete u-turn.

So if you feel like you don’t have space for a relationship, but you’re also worried about how you’d pay the bills if you cut down on work… you need to reevaluate here.

Doubt will always start creeping in – but you need to doubt the doubt.

It’s normal for you to have doubts when your higher conscious speaks, until you’re practiced at trusting your higher self. Most people are not practiced at it, so it’s uncomfortable at first.

But when you decide to do it differently, you can still be very successful. You can be even more successful. You can be balanced. You can be happy. You can have it all.

You just need to set your intention, and then design your life around it.

If you believe you have to work, work, work, what do you think you’re going to do? It’s pretty obvious: your life will revolve solely around your work.

If you want to achieve true balance in your life, what do you need to do? You need to hold yourself accountable and create balance in your life.

For example, you may decide with your partner that Wednesday nights each week starting at 6pm are dedicated solely to ‘date night’… and you commit to and stick to that every week.

Or maybe it’s dedicating each Sunday during the day to family outings doing something fun and adventurous with your kids or significant other… no cell phones allowed!

You get the point.

So, if you were starting from scratch and creating a masterpiece of your life, a drawing of what your life looks like and feels like, what would it look like?

Now, what are the first 3 actions you can take THIS week to move you towards that vision? I challenge you to commit to those actions and complete them before the end of this week! Then, leave me a comment below and let me know your 3 actions you’ll complete this week.

Enjoy and good luck!

For Your Freedom,

Like I mentioned, you’re at the steering wheel of your life, and it is up to you to create the life that you want.

So are you ready to take control and start designing your ‘Level 10 life’ today (with balance, happiness, and success)?

I need to let you know that Indigenous Peoples did not choose to have their way of life, which was one of perfect Balance, stolen from them; to be put in prison camps and have their families poisoned, to lose their language, food, culture, sense of identity. However, if it is your opinion that this was their ‘choice’ you have nothing to teach me.

Harv clearly states “Everything in our lives, within reason, is a choice, …”, meaning that he acknowledges uncontrollable events and actions of other people happen, but it is how we choose to respond to those events that determines our results. Don’t be (remain) a victim.

There is great evil in this world, but you also have the choice to be keep your spirit strong and good, the choice to fight back evil, and build up your life. That is a choice. The greatest tragedy is to give up your choice in view of evil, to surrender the key to create something different to evil and stay as victims. We see this clealy in history, all warriors fight for a change, the possibility of freedom, hope, no matter how difficult is the battle, no matter how big is the evil.

Dear Patricia, I am truly sorry for what your people went through. However to hold on to that past is preventing you of your future. Believe me, I know what that means! And in that sense we have control of what we make of the life that is left.

I interpret your headline: importance of family. Many of us have to step outside of their family of origin belief system to find their true support system: their spiritual family. How short sighted is your advice then? I cannot change my family of origin epigenetically induced beliefs of how they have given their power away to fear.
I have been so scapegoated….but I can forgive them. This breaks the chain of hate. NOt some outdated loyalty: honor thy father and mother.

    1. Jesse Eker says:

      Hi Pat,

The misconception is that balance means it’s equal across the board but that’s not true and it’s impossible.

Balance refers to doing more than just work. It means that you should focus on the other parts of your life, your health, your relationships, your play time etc other than work.

Balance works just fine when you do it in small chunks of your day no matter how long it is. From 8-10pm you have 2 full hours to do other things in your life to balance it out.

That’s 10 hours of time Monday-Friday. That’s quite a bit of time to work on other things other than work.

Thanks Harv. You have been sharing great information for a long time. I first attended 3 day MMI back when Harv taught a lot of it himself – he knocked my socks off! Been back once since he sold the company. Good, but nobody else is T. Harv Eker! Changed my life. Bought it on CDs before going – listened to it so many times I was wearing it out – copied it and listened to the copies. Also, the Millionaire songs CD you sold once upon a time is awesome – tried to buy more for others, but never found it for sale again?! I am a millionaire today, with a 6 figure income, working part time (rental properties was my path – own and manage 37 houses). Two biggest take aways that helped me… One – “I get rich doing what I love. I deserve to be rich because I add value to other peoples lives”. I grew up poor, and before MMI I really had issues with feeling guilty about getting wealthy. Two – just a total overall change in my views about money – rich people are not greedy! They are kind, generous, and awesome; and I am one of them!!! Learned from many books, courses, etc., but if I picked one with biggest impact, T. Harv Eker is a slam dunk life changer!!!

Great topic! I consider creating balance as a critical piece in my self care.

I am focused on great sleep to help recover my body after surgery, breathing and vocal exercises to help recover my vocal chord after surgery, and I just received a doctor’s pass to go back to Yoga class. Those are my three actions that I will be doing this week and every week.

    Thanks for the great reminder!

    Thank you Harv.
You are absolutely right it is a choice. I had been deeply hurt from a manipulative family member and also nearly destroyed from a former romantic partner. I wanted death. I chose to live. I chose my career. I knew that the career gave me everything, financial independence, material assets, job status, travel everything but close relationships.
The ONE thing I trusted was my work ethic. That time allowed me to heal until I was willing to allow relationships back in. Consumed by 80 hour work weeks led to years and gave me excellent excuses to feign from interacting or allowing people into my private world.
In the last two years I finally chose to let someone in. I chose to put effort into it and slowly allow them in and phase work obsession out. He chose to marry me because we both agreed to move forward, leave the past behind, Be HAPPY and Choose Balance.

Thanks for the wake-up punch Harv, as always, direct and on target. Someone once told me that there is no overwhelm, only those who let themselves be overwhelmed. It’s easy to do when you’re not living in the moment, but living with regrets (the past), or lack of vision (the future).

I think what he is really talking about is The Universal Law of Attraction, which says, “That which is likened to itself is drawn.” So you get what you think about (your mood) whether you want it or not, whether you’re even consciously aware of it or not. The Universe doesn’t hear your words, it hears what you mean. The vibe you give off/out is what you get back.
