Why is that?<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Living Inside the Lines<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It starts, like many behaviors, with early conditioning\u2014like staying \u201cinside the lines\u201d in art class. Structure can be good, but if we dared draw outside the lines, watch out! We\u2019d be \u201ccorrected\u201d until we developed the habit of staying within artificial boundaries given to us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s just one of many examples of conditioning that ends up placing limits on our creative potential. Pressures could be cultural like being told to stay with your group, economical when we claim that rich people are why we\u2019re poor \u2026 the list goes on and on. And most people end up living their lives \u201cinside the lines\u201d until it becomes comfortable, familiar and \u201cappropriate\u201d\u2014even though it may not be appropriate for you!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In everyday life, anything or anyone that doesn\u2019t fit the \u201cnorm\u201d often pays the price of disapproval or scorn. It\u2019s a strange paradox; it can pay when you dare to be different\u2014think of somebody like Madonna, who clearly marches to her own beat\u2014but don\u2019t be too different or else you\u2019re weird, or something\u2019s wrong with you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Going Beyond the Lines<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most people will do their best to fit into a recognizable and comfortable mold because security is addictive to the ego. As a matter of fact, it\u2019s part of our evolution as people. Acceptance\u00a0in a group meant survival and safety for our ancestors. And, in some ways, it still does.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>However, at some point we\u2019ve got to tell the ego that it\u2019s okay to step into the unknown and dare to be different.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Also, think of all the people throughout history that, if they hadn\u2019t stepped \u201coutside the lines,\u201d we\u2019d have never evolved as quickly as we did. We\u2019d still think the world was flat, or that the universe revolves around us, or that \u201cnormal\u201d people couldn\u2019t do amazing things.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpaulocoelho%2Fposts%2F10154923937571211&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"310\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you stop playing it safe, your spirit is free to grow, expand and create. Individual, family and social \u201crules\u201d don\u2019t apply.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>It takes guts to dare to be different; to stand out from the crowd; to break free from the \u201cclone drone\u201d society and be a true individual.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, when others criticize you for doing something \u201cdifferent\u201d it\u2019s usually because they\u2019re scared. Inside, they\u2019re secretly stoked that you broke\u00a0free. They\u2019re also just frustrated with themselves for lacking the courage to do the same. So, be their inspiration!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FHarvEker%2Fposts%2F10155204439483390%3A0&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"589\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>30-Day Exercise: Dare To Be Different<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let go of worrying about what other people think of you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do something unusual (just remember society does have laws!). <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whatever business you are in, figure out a way to do it, package it, or market it differently than everyone else.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cZig\u201d when the masses \u201czag.\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will not only feel a renewed sense of spirit and energy but will also dramatically increase your income and wealth.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are you up for it? \u00a0Let me know your thoughts and ideas on how you can mix it up, start coloring outside the lines, and dare to be different this month.
