Many people don\u2019t trust themselves. It’s something I’ve seen in everyone from my students to myself. However, just as I learned how to move past it, I’ve taught my students how to as well. And today, I’m going to teach you too. After all, if you can’t trust yourself, you can’t get rich.<\/p>\n
If you trusted yourself, why would you fear anything? You wouldn\u2019t. However, I\u2019d say 99% of people do not trust themselves. This causes them chaos in their normal life, as the effects of this distrust bleed out.<\/p>\n
Trust, like anything else, comes from repetition. Trust is a habit. Let me give you an example.<\/p>\n
I had a car in the late \u201860s. In those days I couldn\u2019t afford a great car. Instead, I had to buy a used one. When it was cold, the chances of my car starting were about 50\/50. I had to go out early, try to start it, and wait and see. In fact, even when it did start, it would stall almost half the time you were driving it.<\/p>\n
Because of all this uncertainty, I was scared to death every time I got in the car. \u201cIs it going to start? Am I going to get to school?\u201d I didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
My anxiety about whether the car would start extended even after I would arrive at my destination. I found not being sure \u2014 even if it was in the past \u2014 embarrassing. It made me feel overall more nervous about myself. From my car issues, I didn’t know how to trust myself. If this sounds familiar, you probably don’t know how to trust yourself either.<\/p>\n

Today, do you think I trust that my car is going to start? Yes. I do because it\u2019s started a thousand times in a row. In all those times, I haven\u2019t had any issues with it.<\/p>\n
So how do you learn to trust something? If my example tells you anything, you learn to trust a result when it repeats again an again.<\/p>\n
Now how do you learn to trust yourself? By getting the same result again and again until you say, \u201cOf course I trust this result. I expect it. I trust that this situation is going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Start with one tiny little win. I\u2019m talking about smaller goals. It\u2019s one tiny win. That\u2019s all. When people learn not to trust themselves, it\u2019s usually because they\u2019re taking on too much.<\/p>\n
If you want to actually follow through on a New Year\u2019s resolution like, say, losing some weight to look and feel better \u2014 and it\u2019s been years since you\u2019ve paid attention to this sort of thing \u2014 forget about exercise routines and healthy eating plans, for now, if they\u2019ve never worked before. How about trying just one new habit?<\/p>\n
How about a healthy meal, one meal? If you feel like you can commit to more than one, that’s great. Do two meals or two days or whatever works. However, can you commit to at least one healthy meal?<\/p>\n
What would one healthy breakfast look like? How hard is that? You\u2019re not looking at a lunch. You just say, \u201cTomorrow for breakfast I\u2019m having a healthy shake.\u201d You do. That\u2019s your breakfast. Then you can eat lunch two hours later and decide then what choice you\u2019re going to make.<\/p>\n
Then experiment with that for a week, and maybe give yourself two days off of doing it \u2014 maybe you choose to, maybe you don\u2019t. The point is not to make this about pressure at first. Small wins here matter more than the big picture ahead. Trust that you\u2019ll get to that.<\/p>\n
All you started with was one healthy breakfast, and you set it up so you could win. When you win, you gain confidence. When you gain confidence, you gain trust. Get enough small wins, then you take on bigger goals.<\/p>\n
I swear you\u2019ll realize one day, \u201cWow, I\u2019ve been doing this for weeks, and it really wasn\u2019t that hard. Now I\u2019m ready for… \u201d whatever that is for you.<\/p>\n

Whatever the goal, it\u2019s all the same. If you\u2019re not trusting yourself in one area of your life, you probably don’t trust yourself in other ways either. A lack of trust affects you across conceived mental boundaries. The content just changes. While this time it may be eating, the next time it\u2019s business. The next time it\u2019s your relationship.<\/p>\n
Just as these problems are connected, the solutions can be too. If you trust yourself, a lot of the issues you have in your life would just disappear.<\/p>\n
