Well, I have some great news\u2014you can do something about it! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">By changing your habitual thoughts, you change your feelings about your situations, which then changes how you act and what you do, and then, before you know it, your life as a whole has changed! In other words:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Thoughts \u2192 Feelings \u2192 Actions \u2192 Results<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We all have habitual thoughts \u2014 thoughts that pop into our head the second after we think about making a change. They often keep us doing the same things, going the same places, and having the same experiences. They impact literally every aspect of our lives, and, the thing is, they\u2019re just reflexes. They\u2019re usually not even true!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Take Charge Of The Remote<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One way to change your thoughts is to imagine you\u2019ve got a remote control that can change the channel in your mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For example, a friend was telling me how much he dislikes being around his mother-in-law. He said she\u2019d made it clear in the beginning that she didn\u2019t think he was rich or good enough for her daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That was ages ago, though. Now he\u2019s a successful lawyer, and he doesn\u2019t even know if this is still an issue for her. Regardless, his habitual thought still popped up every time he was around her: \u201cShe thinks I\u2019m not good enough, so I have to prove I am.\u201d No wonder he didn\u2019t want to spend time with her!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">By taking charge of the remote control and changing the \u201cchannel\u201d to see a different scenario \u2014 in this case, that he <i>was<\/i> good enough, and she thought so, too \u2014 he was able to let go of the habitual thought. And by doing that, he changed both his emotional reaction and his relationship with his mother-in-law. Good or good?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The remote control idea can work in any situation \u2014 personal, professional, and even spiritual. You could switch the channel to see yourself in a different job, back at school, volunteering, eating a different type of diet, in a new relationship, moving from the country to the city\u2026 the possibilities are endless!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Once you\u2019ve changed the channel, notice how you feel. Does it make you feel light and happy, weighed down, or totally neutral? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I really want you to observe this closely because it\u2019ll help you decide whether the scenario is something you want to work towards. <b>If it feels good, go for it! So <b>in order for you to have a different life, you\u2019re going to have to have a different way of thinking.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to notice your thought habits. They often show up as a \u201cYes, but\u201d thought:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI got offered my dream job! <b>Yes, but<\/b> I can\u2019t take it because it pays less.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIf I eat less sugar, I\u2019ll be healthier. <b>Yes, but<\/b> life\u2019s too short to deprive myself.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis relationship isn\u2019t working, so I should end it.<b> Yes, but<\/b> my family and friends love him\/her.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI\u2019ve got a great idea for a business! <b>Yes, but<\/b> what if it\u2019s a bust?\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You might know my favorite response when your mind brings up habitual thoughts:<i> \u201cThank you for sharing.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After that, use your handy-dandy remote to change your visual. Period.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Luckily, small changes can have a big effect. Sometimes, all it takes is changing up your routine. Maybe you go to the gym at a different time and meet your soulmate. Maybe you go to the library and find a book that changes your life. Maybe you try meditating and finally start feeling some much-needed peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whatever your change is, big or small, remember that you <i>must <\/i>address your old thought habits too. Big or small, remember that you must address your old thought habits too.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>You\u2019ve Got This!<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I know change can be hard. If it were easy, people would do it all the time! But <b>if it\u2019s something that\u2019s right, it\u2019s worth it<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I have no doubt you\u2019re up to the challenge, and now you\u2019ve got some tools to help you out, too. Remember, making these changes \u2014 from your thoughts to your actions \u2014 is the only way you\u2019ll become happier, richer, more successful, and finally able to live the life you want and deserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019d love to hear what kind of change you want to make.
