Why is it that some people are rich, and most everyone else is semi-broke, or at the most, middle-class? <\/span><\/p>\n

Is it just mindset? Is it upbringing? Is it their knowledge? Is it what they\u2019re doing? <\/span><\/p>\n

What is it?<\/span><\/p>\n

These questions were bugging the hell out of me one day while I was sitting at a stop light in Maui. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the scene: I\u2019m looking around me at the light, and all the other cars are beat-up wrecks, even for Maui standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like, \u201cWow, I don\u2019t even know how these cars are driving. They\u2019re rust buckets. They\u2019re just terrible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I look at the people in these cars, and from my perspective, they\u2019re all broke. It\u2019s not that they\u2019re bad people. They\u2019re wonderful people. They\u2019re just broke people.<\/span><\/p>\n

…the kind of people who work and, in my language, slave away<\/b> for 30 or 40 years, and never \u201cget it\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

They work their asses off, and they never win. They never become super successful<\/span><\/a><\/span>. They never become financially free. They don\u2019t have a purpose and don\u2019t really help anyone. And they\u2019re always worried about money. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

I said to myself, \u201cIf you could come up with an answer to help people solve this problem, that would do so much good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And I knew that any answer would have to start with the mind because it\u2019s the source of all success\u2014 and all failure.<\/span><\/p>\n

Money Beliefs That Keep People Broke<\/span><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s absolutely possible to get rich doing what you love and helping others at the same time. But you can make it OVERLY hard for yourself with the way you think. <\/span><\/p>\n

How do I know? That\u2019s what I<\/i> did. That\u2019s why for a decade I was completely broke.<\/span><\/p>\n

So what did I get wrong (and might you be getting wrong)? And what are better alternatives?<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are 5 of the most common and DISASTROUS money beliefs I\u2019ve encountered, both in my own life and in coaching and teaching over 2 million students worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>1. \u201cI don\u2019t want to get rich because it means I\u2019ll have to focus only on money.\u201d<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

People get hung up on, \u201cAm I just in this for me? Is it just about how much money I can make?\u201d They resist doing what it takes to earn a lot of money because they think it\u2019s selfish or shallow. <\/span><\/p>\n

Alternative<\/b>: You can be way more generous when you have way more to give! And you also earn a lot more money when you do<\/i> focus on giving and helping, as long as you\u2019re smart about it. So ask yourself, \u201cHow can I live my purpose and make a lot of money by helping<\/i> a lot of people?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>2. \u201cI want to get rich, so I need<\/i> to focus only on money.\u201d<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On the flip side of #1, many people think that focusing on money above all else is what will help them get more. But it doesn\u2019t work that way. People smell greed a mile away, and they will stay<\/i> a mile away. <\/span><\/p>\n

Alternative: <\/b>Focusing on money is the worst thing you can do. Stop thinking about yourself. Focus on helping other people<\/span><\/a><\/span>. If you do it in an intelligent way and package it properly, the result is you help them, and<\/i> you get rich.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>3. \u201cI don\u2019t want to try to get rich because then I\u2019d be a slave<\/i> to money.\u201d<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

When you\u2019re broke is when you\u2019re a slave to money! I\u2019m sorry \u2013 every decision, everything you do, and everything you don\u2019t do has to do with money when you DON\u2019T have it<\/i>. It rules your freakin\u2019 life, true or true?!<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternative: <\/b>How do you not be ruled by money? It\u2019s easy. Have it. Have plenty of money. Don\u2019t let anybody tell you that being rich isn\u2019t fan-freakin\u2019-tastic. The best thing about it for me is, I don\u2019t worry<\/i> about money. I don\u2019t think about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>4. \u201cMoney doesn\u2019t solve all problems.\u201d<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The thinking here is that, because money doesn\u2019t fix everything<\/i>, it\u2019s not worth having. This is very a very black-and-white mindset and makes no sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternative<\/b>: You know what problems money does<\/i> solve? MONEY problems! That\u2019s it. Shitty stuff can happen to you in other areas. Why do you have to add money problems to the list? Get this part of your life handled.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>5. \u201cI don\u2019t want to have a lot of money because other people don\u2019t.\u201d<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

If this is you, you\u2019re saying that by you<\/i> being broke, you\u2019re helping somebody else have more money. It doesn\u2019t work that way! You having less doesn\u2019t make them rich! It just makes you…<\/i> BROKE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternative<\/b>: Having money means you can help people who need it<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> You can do more good in the world because you have more to give. Money makes you more of who you are, so if you\u2019re generous, then money will make you more generous.<\/span><\/p>\n

These disastrous beliefs people have are keeping them from the life they want. Don\u2019t buy into them. Allow yourself the possibility of getting rich so you can have the life you want and help others as well. <\/span><\/p>\n

Seriously, wouldn\u2019t it be great to be able to live your passion, do what you really love doing, help people and<\/i> get really rich<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/span>?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answered: How To Get Rich AND Help People<\/span><\/h2>\n

Going back to that stoplight in Maui, I said, \u201cHarv, you know how to do that. You do exactly that. Why are there so many parts to this that people are missing? And what can you do about it?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
