It\u2019s not only about what you\u2019d like to achieve, but <em>how<\/em> you\u2019ll get there. What are your reasons for having financial goals? Why do you want to change your diet or your lifestyle?<\/p>\n<p>Motivation is one of those skills that <em>everyone<\/em> can benefit from mastering, but it\u2019s just not that easy. And you know what? Motivating yourself and other people can get tough during the grind. Motivation can be found in everything around you from people to environments. From your own motivation to peer motivation and everything in between.<\/p>\n<p>But what does motivation mean? Why do so many people struggle with motivation? Most of the time it\u2019s a lack of discipline. Daily motivation needs constant effort, and without discipline, motivational habits end up failing.<\/p>\n<p>You know what they say: Persistence gets you there, but consistency keeps you there. Do you want to play in the big leagues or in the little leagues, in the majors or the minors? Are you going to play big or play small? Are you going to live a level 10 life? It\u2019s your choice.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Personal Values and How They Shape Motivation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For most people, personal values are the main motivator. Your morals and values make up a <em>huge<\/em> part of who you are, so it only makes sense morals and values would play an important role in motivating you to new heights.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the thing:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Figuring out your personal values means you have to look at yourself.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start by asking yourself a few questions like, <em>\u201cWhen I was happiest, what was I doing? Who was I with? What made me so happy?\u201d and, \u201cWhen was I the proudest, most satisfied, or most fulfilled? What values did I have in my life during those times?\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>In my own life, there were many times when I was completely broke and disappointed in myself. I felt low and didn\u2019t like what was going on around me. I went through <em>twelve<\/em> businesses, and my values anchored me and encouraged me through those times when I was feeling the worst.<\/p>\n<p>My first value? <em>Freedom<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t wanna work for somebody else for the next 50 years, and I didn\u2019t want someone else\u2019s dreams to come true because of my hard work.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, I value making a name for myself; proving that I had what it took to be up there with the big dogs. I didn\u2019t want my parents to think I was a failure or a bum, I wanted them to be proud of me. If you don\u2019t know where to start, write down what\u2019s important to you.<\/p>\n<p>These can be simple things or general ideas like friends, family, success, and so on. Generally, these are your core values, and the answers might surprise you!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Adapting Your Core Values<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve nailed down your values, you can use them to fuel your motivation. If honesty is something you value, own that value and use it as a motivator in your personal growth journey.<\/p>\n<p>Motivation is what helps us improve and continue to improve throughout our lives. Personal values change with time, so make sure to reevaluate your values now and then. If your values don\u2019t align with your goals, take a closer look at both so you can adjust.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to Stay Motivated<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Internal motivation is hard to keep up with if you don\u2019t have focus and discipline. Why? Because focus and discipline are at the core of motivation. When you put focus and discipline together with personal values and goals, it creates a powerhouse of energy that will become your fuel. That fuel can last forever if you do it right.<\/p>\n<p>Staying motivated is one of the hardest things you\u2019ll come across. Sometimes, a bad day happens, and you just can\u2019t find your motivation. True or true?! Remind yourself daily of your values, why you started, and where you want to be. Sometimes, you need to kick yourself in the butt for missing a deadline or not achieving a goal, but don\u2019t be<em> too harsh<\/em>. You don\u2019t want to create a habit of putting yourself down. You fell down, and that\u2019s ok because failure is not the end. Being afraid of failing can hold you back from success. As Henry Ford once said: \u201cFailure is simply the opportunity to start again, this time begin more intelligently.\u201d Never let a fear of failure, or ACTUAL failure, stop you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Take a break now and then. Pushing yourself 110% for weeks on end is exhausting. Taking care of yourself is paramount to reaching your goals. Not only is it ok to take breaks, it\u2019s necessary. Setting dedicated work hours or utilizing a block scheduling system are great ways to avoid overworking yourself. Remember that taking a rest is ok, as long as you get back to the grind. Keep this in mind: <strong>A body in motion will remain in motion, and a body at rest will remain at rest<\/strong>.\u00a0And remember: action always beats inaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Avoid procrastination. It can also result in a product that could have been better. Do it now. When this happens, you need to go back to the basics. Ask yourself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0What goal was I trying to accomplish?<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Why did I want to accomplish that goal?<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0What lies beyond that goal?<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0How was I going to get there?<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Why do I have no motivation?<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Most importantly, where did I go wrong?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A lot of times, we lose motivation because we\u2019re setting unrealistic expectations or goals. For example, if you want to lose weight, you have to understand that losing 20 pounds in one week isn\u2019t possible or healthy to attempt. Or, possibly you want to move up in your corporation, but you don\u2019t have the skills just yet, it will take<em> time<\/em> and <em>effort<\/em> to do what you need to get there.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping goals realistic and manageable can help you avoid setbacks and make the overall goal easier to get to.<\/p>\n<p>One way to make your goals easier to achieve is to break them down into smaller sub-goals. Focus on each sub-goal as you work toward the overall goal. Reaching those sub-goals can fuel your motivation and boost your self-esteem and sense of purpose. Sometimes, it\u2019s just better to approach things on a smaller scale. Many times, thinking small leads to big success.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em>Getting help from the people around you is also an option when you lose your motivation. <\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It\u2019s ok to call on those positive and motivated people in our life for help. You never know what someone might do or say to turn things around for the better.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back is the key to reigniting your fire, but don\u2019t let it discourage you. Take a look at what caused you to lose motivation, but don\u2019t dwell on it. Did you lose interest, or fall into bad habits? Did someone talk you out of your goals or put you down? Do you believe what you\u2019re seeking is unobtainable? Self-Reflection is <em><strong>SO<\/strong><\/em> important and is a habit you should take the time to cultivate.<\/p>\n<p>Narrowing down <em>why<\/em> you\u2019re unmotivated can help you find the issue at its core instead of wondering why you can\u2019t get your ass off the couch. Take a moment and REALLY think: Is it really the thing you\u2019re focused on what&#8217;s holding you back, or is it<em> you<\/em>? Is the way you think about the obstacle and how you think about the solution keeping you in the dumps? Change your lens, and you\u2019ll change your life. As Wayne Dyer says, \u201cIf you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Your brain has a strong survival instinct and is hardwired for fear. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fear has kept humans alive for thousands of years, but now that we\u2019re not running around the jungle anymore, hunting and gathering and protecting our families from wild beasts\u2026 our mind could actually be holding us back from success.<\/p>\n<p>These days, fear isn\u2019t always a reason to run, in fact, many times fear means opportunity because opportunities are almost always scary! I\u2019m not telling you to ignore your thoughts or warnings, I\u2019m telling you to listen to them, acknowledge them and say four magic words \u201cThank you for sharing,\u201d and move on. Get into action. Don\u2019t let fear hold you back.<\/p>\n<p>Mindset is <em>everything<\/em>. A positive mindset isn\u2019t just something that can help improve self-esteem, but everything around you. Once you lose the negativity and start thinking like a millionaire, the path becomes clearer. You start to plan the steps to get there. Millionaires don\u2019t become millionaires because they believe they\u2019ll be poor forever. When your mind is being negative, don\u2019t believe everything you think. It takes discipline and planning, but as you look closely at your goals, remind yourself you <em>can<\/em> achieve them and know you deserve them.<\/p>\n<p>If one person in the history of mankind has done it before you, <em>you can do it too<\/em>. If no one else has done it, you can be the first in line. According to Walter E. Jacobson, M.D., positive affirmations <em>\u201chave value because our subconscious mind plays a major role in the actualization of our lives and the manifestation of our desires.\u201d<\/em> There it is, straight from the doctor\u2019s mouth. Positive affirmations do matter. Remember friends, everything happens for a reason and that reason is there to assist you.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Motivation in Athletics<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>How do you think the best athletes in the world go into a game? They go into the game with a winner\u2019s mindset, a positive mindset. They don\u2019t sit in the locker room thinking about everything that can go wrong or how they probably won\u2019t win that day. Instead, they run their minds through the basics. They think about what they have to do to obtain the win. They plan what they need to do to be successful.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of athletes who make it to the top aren\u2019t even the <em>best<\/em> players as far as skill. In fact, a majority of these athletes at the top are just more disciplined and determined than the rest. They do the extra workouts, put in the time, and stay consistent with their efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Their focus is on their skills, discipline, training, and most of all, the motivation to win. You want to understand their personal values, the company\u2019s, and how they align with the goals your employees want to reach.<\/p>\n<p>Finding balance between personal and company values can mean the difference between a satisfied and successful employee or a resentful or unhappy one.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to create a positive mindset within your team. Inspirational quotes, sales motivational quotes, business motivational quotes, personal mantras, and books by coaches or motivational experts are all great reading choices. Business motivation and personal motivation are almost always linked, and reading the right material can improve both.<\/li>\n<li>Listen to lectures or speeches on how to be motivated. The experts know their stuff; you just have to listen and retain the information.<\/li>\n<li>Minimize distractions like social media, electronics, negative influences, drugs, alcohol, etc. Focus on the goal and remove anything that stands in your way.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/321532\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Track your progress<\/a><\/span> and hold yourself accountable.<\/li>\n<li>Look beyond money, but always keep it in mind.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t let others shape your goals. They\u2019re <em>yours<\/em>. This is a fact that none of us can change, so it\u2019s better to make peace with and learn to deal with what we can\u2019t control instead of trying to fight it. Sometimes, it\u2019s going to rain; be <em>prepared<\/em> for the rain, but don\u2019t think you can make it stop.<\/li>\n<li>Daily mantras or habits are important to motivating yourself. Start your day with positive experiences or information.<\/li>\n<li>Be consistent. When things feel like they\u2019re falling apart, consistency is the key to keeping it all together.<\/li>\n<li>Believe in yourself. You <em>can<\/em> achieve your goals with the right discipline and motivation. Poor self-esteem is nothing less than a <em>dream killer<\/em>. Don\u2019t let those feelings of poor self-image get in the way of progress. Take small steps to improve your overall sense of worth and increase your self-esteem. Remember that anything you negate you can never have.<\/li>\n<li>Try goal-setting or tracker apps to help monitor your progress and set goals.
