We went from going about our daily, normal routines to being advised to practice<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/coronavirus\/2020\/03\/what-is-social-distancing-things-to-do-and-not-do-during-coronavirus-pandemic.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">social distancing<\/span><\/a> <\/span>by staying home as much as possible. It\u2019s like an alternate universe or something straight out of a movie!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While the idea of social distancing isn\u2019t hard to grasp in terms of avoiding crowds, the idea of not being able to interact with our friends and even family members is. No dinner parties? No meeting up for coffee? No Sunday meals with extended family? How are we going to do this?!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But here\u2019s the thing\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Social distancing will only put a damper on our lives if we allow it to.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If we think of it as a setback and something that is a huge disruption, then guess what? It <i>will <\/i>be. If we look for the silver lining in the situation and make the most out of it, however, it\u2019ll serve as a reminder that even in tough times, there is always something to be grateful for. True or true?<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Instead of viewing social distancing as a negative, let\u2019s focus on the positive aspects:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s4\">We have extra quality time to spend connecting with our partners, children, and immediate family members. How many times in the past have we complained that we \u201cdon\u2019t have enough time?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s4\">We\u2019re being forced to hit the pause button, to slow down, and to stop over-committing ourselves to being in 100 different places at 100 different times. Couldn\u2019t we all use this break?<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s4\">We\u2019ve been given a reminder that we can never take our health or any day we have on this earth for granted, which is teaching us a lesson in perspective.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Before I get into some ways that you can make the most out of your time during social distancing, there\u2019s a big principle that I want you to understand&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Coping With Fear<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While we need to be mindful of this uncertain time and need to make sure that we avoid putting our health in danger, there\u2019s a difference between being careful and being fearful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Being careful means staying informed and taking the proper precautions (like practicing social distancing). But living in FEAR is what has the potential to consume you and waste your time. If you allow it to, that is.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Why? Because fear only exists in your mind, and it only has power over you if you let it.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Most of us are fearful of this virus on some level. But the mind has a habit of always looking for what could go wrong, which is a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/your-mind-sabotages-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">natural defense mechanism<\/a><\/span> that it uses to protect us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Here\u2019s what I want you to do. Whenever you feel fear starting to creep up, ask yourself what thought is causing you to be fearful, and then get into the practice of reassuring your mind that everything is going to be ok and tell it <i>\u201cThank you for sharing.<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You are in control of how you react to any given situation, not your mind, and certainly not FEAR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Don\u2019t let your mind become another virus to battle in addition to Coronavirus. We may be in an uncertain and scary time right now, but how we choose to react will dictate whether or not we come out on top. It\u2019s easy to stay positive and upbeat when everything is going your way. But it\u2019s how you react when the shit hits the fan that will make or break you. Good or good? Online Health &amp; Wellness Programs<\/b><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">Even though you might miss the gym, there\u2019s really no need for it with apps such as Aaptiv, Glow, Asana Rebel, and DownDog. You can still get a great workout right in the privacy of your own home.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whatever way you choose to pass the time during this period of uncertainty, just remember that we\u2019re all in this together, and we WILL get through this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When the going gets tough, take a deep breath, stay focused, remember that YOU are in control o<span style=\"color: #000000;\">f your mind and your thoughts,<\/span> and make it a point to<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/true-happiness-in-your-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prioritize your happiness<\/a> <\/span>and always practice gratitude.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Use this time to ask yourself, <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong><i>\u201cWhat can I do with this time to improve myself and the people around me?\u201d<\/i> <\/strong>And then take <strong>ACTION<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">By doing so, you will be able to overcome your fear-based mindset once and for all.
