And while we may not have physical symptoms, the uneasiness brought about by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/10-ways-to-make-the-most-out-of-social-distancing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">social distancing<\/span><\/a><\/span>, shifts in our job and home life, and the fluctuating economy and concern for friends and loved ones could quickly leave us struggling with fear, doubt, and uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For people who are suffering from the virus or may know someone who is, along with the frontline workers who are trying to keep us all safe and healthy, the emotional hardship is even more acute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">And while there\u2019s no cure for the heightened anxiety that\u2019s all but inevitable in these stressful, unprecedented times, <b>there are ways to change your approach to dealing with it that can meaningfully reduce your overall sense of helplessness.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Because if we have to sit at home, we can at least channel our fears into finding a path forward. Read on to learn how to acknowledge your fear, but find success in spite of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s okay to feel afraid. Know that you\u2019re not alone.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019m with you. We\u2019re living in a scary time. We\u2019re dealing with a situation we\u2019ve never seen before. And very few of us have a clear picture of how we\u2019ll get out of this thing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But, no matter how helpless we might feel about stopping this virus, we do have power over ourselves, and \u2014 more importantly \u2014 <b>we always have a choice. We can choose to act in spite of fear.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You know that voice of fear. We all have it\u2026Well, guess what? That voice is your mind, and it\u2019s your mind\u2019s way of trying to protect you from potential threats because that\u2019s its primary job.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The problem is that instead of chiming in WHEN you really need it, your mind tends to serve up hypothetical scenarios to keep you from acting under uncertain circumstances. This results in you living in a constant state of fear and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/your-mind-sabotages-your-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">prevents you from taking action<\/span><\/span><\/a> on the things you want in your life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We can choose to let fear control us, or we can stand up and take control. The first step to mastering your fear is recognizing what it is when it happens. Fear is simply False Evidence Acting as Reality. Getting on board with wild speculation isn\u2019t a journey that serves you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Instead, get clear on what you CAN do, instead of focusing on what you can\u2019t.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Drop the narrative of an uncertain future (the future will always be uncertain, and always has been). Get out of the fiction business. Embrace the actions you can take <b>NOW<\/b>. Take a walk. Learn something new. Work on that big idea you\u2019ve been putting off. <b>START NOW.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Most of us are fearful of this virus on some level. But the mind has a habit of always looking for what could go wrong, which is a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/your-mind-sabotages-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">natural defense mechanism<\/span><\/a><\/span> that it uses to protect us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Remember, you can master those fear-based feelings. When you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/insight-therapy\/201009\/overcoming-fear-the-only-way-out-is-through\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">take control of your fear<\/span><\/a>, you free yourself to work towards your goals and attract what you want with the full force of your mind and energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">3 Tips To Focus Your Energy on What You <i>Can<\/i> Control<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When you take back the power fear has held in your life, you free up that energy to focus on what\u2019s important to you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As tough as things might seem right now, we\u2019ve been given this time to recover and start planning for the days ahead. With this mindset, we can find ways to stay optimistic, despite what we see on the news.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Here are 3 tips to help you take action in spite of fear even in the most difficult of times:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">1. Clearly Define The Life You Want To Create<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Be specific and write down exactly \u201cwhat\u201d you want in your life and \u2014more importantly \u2014 \u201cwhy\u201d you want it. Without knowing the WHAT, and the WHY, you won\u2019t know the HOW.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There\u2019s no way to get what you want until you\u2019ve defined what you want, and just as important, why you want it. I\u2019ve taught thousands of students about the power goal setting and success building, and I believe there is A LOT of power in knowing what you want and how you plan to get there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Then, take inventory of the things at your disposal right now \u2014 family, friends, the network of colleagues who might help you take that next step, and all the resources that are helping you economically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. <b>These are the tools that will help you reach your goals.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Life happens, things change, and the universe doesn\u2019t really ask our permission for how change might affect our plans. You can\u2019t focus on what you DON\u2019T have when you\u2019re grateful for what you DO have.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">How we progress through tough times isn\u2019t based on what we don\u2019t have, or what we might\u2019ve done or not done in the past.
