Maintaining consistency can help put you in the right mindset to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/productivity-work-from-home\/\"><span class=\"s2\">have a productive and successful workday<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"s1\">Set an alarm.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">This, for many, is already happening, but you shouldn\u2019t stop your morning routine while working from home. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">One of the biggest mistakes I see right now is people free-flowing their day! Bad move, my friends. If you want to create some consistency, you need to be more structured today than ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"s1\">Get changed.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Do you mean you shouldn\u2019t work in your PJs? Well, maybe on Fridays. But you should get changed into something to set the tone for the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> You don\u2019t have to wear a tie or something fancy. Just get yourself into momentum and out of nighttime wear. Let your weekends be PJ mornings or days. You\u2019ll feel WAY more energized.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"s1\">Set a schedule, and stick to it&#8230; most of the time.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Having clear guidelines for when to work and when to call it a day helps remote workers maintain a work-life balance. Maintaining a traditional 9 to 5 schedule ensures you have dedicated work time, and personal time, and that you don\u2019t blur those lines by continuing to work \u201cafter hours.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">That said, one of the benefits of remote work is flexibility, and sometimes you need to extend your day or start early to accommodate someone else&#8217;s time zone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">When you do, be sure to wrap up earlier than usual or sleep in a bit the next morning to make up for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Planning is key, especially if you\u2019re sharing your space with kids or other family members. Focus on your health and wellness for maximum productivity\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Eliminate the screen in the morning.<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Most people are going to be stuck behind a computer all day and then are most likely going to watch TV at night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But by eliminating the phone or screen in the morning, you get your much-needed break from news, social media, and outside distractions. <strong>This allows you to be more focused during the day.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Make subtle changes to your workspace every few days.<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">For those of us who are used to a daily commute or working in the field, feeling cooped up indoors during the workday can translate to cabin fever and low productivity. If you are allowed to, walk outside your front door, or open your window and get some air and vitamin D. Just be careful, and keep your social distance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Pick up a magazine or listen to an audiobook. Call your mom or have a virtual lunch with a co-worker or friend. Walk your dog. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Whatever it is that helps you pause and recharge, do it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Taking an actual lunch break is key, too!<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Stepping away from your office environment (and your screens) and enjoying a meal can help you gear up for a more productive afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">To the extent that it&#8217;s allowed and safe where you are, get out of the house, but maintain social distancing, of course. The point is, move your body and shift your scenery. Have one or two snacks MAX\u2026 If you are feeling hungry, chug some water. It\u2019s your new best friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><\/b><span class=\"s2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crank that MUSIC.<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">Music for me is LIFE. It gets me into a flow. It helps me sustain my mood and energy. My partner, Jenn, and I \u201cconnect\u201d every morning with a long, embracing hug. We then give each other an intention for the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">For example, she\u2019ll say something like, <em>\u201cI hope you have a grounded and energized day.\u201d <\/em>And\u00a0I\u2019ll say something like, <em>\u201cI hope you have a calm, but productive day.\u201d<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">These intentions are super fun and help you focus on something for the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">If you don\u2019t have a partner and are solo (or you would rather do this alone), set your own intention for the day. Boundaries lead to balance\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019ve met a lot of people who work remotely, and the ones who do it best have clear boundaries between their work and personal lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">For some, working from home means they\u2019re always working, while others end up lost in endless household chores instead of working! If you want to find a happy medium, <strong>be disciplined!<\/strong> Work when it\u2019s time for work, and then STOP!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Your success depends on clear boundaries between your personal and professional life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Use a door (if you can) to help set boundaries as well.<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">This is pretty self-explanatory, but it\u2019s important that you are not posted up in the middle of the living room with constant interruptions, or worse, in the kitchen, where there is FOOD. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">If you don\u2019t want to pack on the pounds, make sure you find a quiet place with a door so you can focus during your blocked work time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finally\u2026 <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Working in bed or while watching TV is only allowed when you are clearing emails.<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Working at home doesn\u2019t have to be so strict, but you do want to be productive. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Doing \u201cnon-intensive\u201d work in comfort is a perk of working from home. <strong>But make it a reward, not a habit.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wise warning\u2026 people who have trouble sleeping should not work from bed. It\u2019s totally possible to stay connected to your co-workers and clients even if you don\u2019t see them in person every day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Take the time to share an article you enjoyed reading, celebrate team milestones, or find a new way to expand your professional network. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Even in the midst of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/10-ways-to-make-the-most-out-of-social-distancing\/\"><span class=\"s2\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">social distancing<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">,<\/span> professional relationships can still be a priority.
