Unless you\u2019re passionate about what you do, it is very difficult to find success or personal happiness. When you are not thrilled with your work, what are you doing unconsciously? Looking for a way out, yes or no? You\u2019re always thinking \u201cIf there was something else \u2026\u201d You\u2019re constantly searching.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine driving on a highway. You\u2019re looking for your exit. What lane would you drive in? The slow lane because you don\u2019t want to miss the exit. If you weren\u2019t looking for an exit, you\u2019d be flying down the fast lane. Unconsciously, you wouldn\u2019t even realize you were doing it unless you saw a cop or traffic jam. But, when you\u2019re in that mode of looking for a way out, you never fully commit. You never get any momentum.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re engaged in what you love to do, it\u2019s like driving in the fast lane. Time flies by and more roads open up to you, alternate routes you may not have even known existed.<\/p>\n<p>So, why don\u2019t we all do what we love? You\u2019d think it\u2019d be natural choice, right? Natural talents are gifts from the universe or from whatever you want to call your creator. You can refine your talent, but it\u2019s something that makes people say, \u201cYou\u2019re a natural at that!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>How Fear and Obligation Hold Us Back<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5278 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/4\/files\/2017\/07\/How-Fear-and-Obligation-Hold-Us-Back.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/07\/How-Fear-and-Obligation-Hold-Us-Back.png 1200w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/07\/How-Fear-and-Obligation-Hold-Us-Back-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/07\/How-Fear-and-Obligation-Hold-Us-Back-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/07\/How-Fear-and-Obligation-Hold-Us-Back-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The reason a lot of people don\u2019t find or create work that they love is fear, of course. It could be fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of rejection, fear of looking foolish, or fear of disapproval. Whatever the case, it\u2019s a story you make up about what might happen or what could be in the future.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with fear is obligation. We all have obligations to memories of the past, obligations to other people, obligations to the freaking mortgage! If your mortgage is hampering your life, which one do you want to release? You\u2019d think the logical answer is the mortgage, but guess which one most people release? They release their lives. Isn\u2019t that wicked?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whatever obligation it is, it\u2019s nothing more than a fear that \u2018If I don\u2019t do this, something bad will happen to me.\u2019<\/strong> Obligation is a \u2018should\u2019. It\u2019s a \u2018have to\u2019. It\u2019s an opinion, though, and every one of those obligations is made up. You made the obligation up. It\u2019s not true that you have to or that you should. It\u2019s your opinion based on interpretations that you made about who you are, who others are to you, what\u2019s important, or what\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time to forget the obligations. If they are not supporting you or propelling you toward work that you love, give them up. Don\u2019t wait! Life is too short to work at something you really don\u2019t love or have a passion for. When you do find work you&#8217;re passionate about, you will promote it like crazy. That\u2019s how you\u2019ll know it&#8217;s work that you love. Before you know it, you&#8217;ll be flying down the fast lane without looking for an exit. Do what you love and the money will come. You have to learn how to overcome fear and to trust yourself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your turn!<\/strong> Now we want to hear from you!
