I have lots of things in my life that I want to do and accomplish.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you know what the problem is here? I call it <strong>&#8220;means-to-an-end&#8221; living.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And unfortunately many people live this way with a &#8220;means-to-an-end&#8221; living:\u00a0<em>\u201cI\u2019m going to work 30 years at a job or business I hate so that one day I can make a lot of money so I can do what I want.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sorry&#8230; but WHAT?!<\/p>\n<p>In fact, you <em>can<\/em> focus on your passions or interests, and the other things you want to do in life without being rich. If you wait to be rich before you do this, you might wait your whole life. You\u2019ll be too old to do them by then.<\/p>\n<p>So don\u2019t wait.\u00a0You don\u2019t have to be perfectly, financially free to do what you love to do.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/how-to-set-goals-and-accomplish-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pursue your goals<\/a> the way you can do it right now.\u00a0Enjoy it in the way you can enjoy it right now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Go through your life knowing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/greatest-lesson-from-warren-buffet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">you only have one life to live!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make time and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/become-8-percent-people-reach-all-goals\/\">create a system\u00a0<\/a>that works to follow your goals and your passions \u2014 two days a week, two to three hours a day. Do what you love to do. Do it now. Don\u2019t wait for anything! You may not be able to do it perfectly. You may not be able to do it in just the exact style you want to do it in, but it\u2019s a start.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an exercise for you to get started&#8230;. all you need is a pen and paper:<\/p>\n<h2>1. Make a list of 5 things you&#8217;ve always wanted to do&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>Don&#8217;t just list out five things you think would be &#8220;neat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I mean things that make you feel like, <em>&#8220;Yeah, that&#8217;d be so cool!&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 things that make you smile and feel good when you imagine doing them.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Write down\u00a0why you can&#8217;t, shouldn&#8217;t, or would never do the things you&#8217;ve always said you wanted to do&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>Write them down and then read them back to yourself ALOUD. Are those reasons and excuses as ridiculous as you know them to be?<\/p>\n<p>If you decide to be a professional athlete but you&#8217;re in your mid-life \u2014 it\u2019s not impossible \u2014 but perhaps maybe that&#8217;s a good reason not to pursue that idea. But if your reason for not starting a business is because you fear how that will impact your family life and time&#8230; well, that&#8217;s just fear and outdated beliefs holding you back.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Then for every reason why you &#8220;can&#8217;t,\u201d write down at least one reason why you <em>can<\/em> pursue what you want.<\/h2>\n<p>Clarity is power. All you need is one reason to know why you can pursue what you really want in life, and therefore why you <em>should<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/2-questions-to-live-your-ultimate-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Your why is your reason.<\/a> Once you can motivate yourself, and keep your focus on the one thing you really want in life, you still have a chance to make a dent.<\/p>\n<h2>4.\u00a0Pick three of your &#8220;wants&#8221; and <em>start doing them<\/em>!<\/h2>\n<p>Start learning what you need to learn. Do some research. Talk to people who are doing what you want and are really good at it! Get coaching or take a course.
