Someone says something that gets under our skin and then it\u2019s game over. Before you know it, you\u2019re reacting negatively and following the old subconscious programming.<\/p>\n<p>But what if you could learn to operate from a more <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/positive-thinking-power-thinking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">positive, proactive programming<\/a><\/span>?<\/p>\n<p>Today I\u2019m going to show you exactly where to begin so that you don\u2019t absorb other people\u2019s poor belief systems any longer.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>1. Be Aware Of What&#8217;s Going On\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>First of all, noticing that you are becoming irritated, agitated, upset, feeling hurt or whatever it is, is the first step to moving forward. More specifically,\u00a0noticing that there\u2019s a trigger and noticing how you respond to that trigger.<\/p>\n<p>We are programmed to respond to certain situations, certain triggers and certain people in certain ways. These are like grooves on a record.<\/p>\n<p>And remember how records used to skip? Well, it didn\u2019t really mean that they skipped. It means they got stuck in one spot. There\u2019s a groove that they got stuck in, and then you couldn\u2019t hear the rest of the album or the rest of the record.<\/p>\n<p>Well, <em>it\u2019s the same with us<\/em>. We get stuck in grooves and subconsciously <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/no-1-enemy-holding-you-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">react on autopilot<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, if you notice something and become aware of it \u2014 but then you beat yourself up for doing it \u2014 you\u2019ve made the situation <em>way<\/em> worse for yourself. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to share a quote from my Zen teacher, Cheri Huber. She says, <em>\u201cIf you beat yourself up for noticing, you will train yourself not to notice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And without noticing, there is no change that can occur.<\/p>\n<p>So what are you going to do now? Be Aware Without Judgement &amp; Separate Yourself From Your Mind<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When testing situations, you need to understand that the situation is not <em>you<\/em>, that the other person is not <em>you<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 and moreover, that those things are not necessarily things that you can even control in the moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The bottom line is that you must separate yourself from those situations and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/no-1-enemy-holding-you-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">separate yourself from the mind<\/a> <\/span>that is getting upset around those situations. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If I receive criticism about the way I teach, it\u2019s easy for me to feel hurt or angry about that, but that isn\u2019t me talking. That\u2019s the small self, the ego self, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/stop-fear-from-running-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the fear-based self<\/a>,<\/span> the protective self \u2014 the fear-based voice that is my mind.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s not who I am. Of course, my mind is\u00a0part of me like my hand, my finger, my ear, my hair or my nose\u2026 <strong>but it\u2019s not <em>me<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Understanding that allows you to separate your mind from who you really are. It allows you to recognize that your mind is only your protective mechanism doing its job the best way it knows how to do it, which is reacting in that manner and therefore making you feel the way you feel right now.<\/p>\n<p>Once you can separate yourself from your mind, you can be aware of your own surroundings without judgment and (on the next step)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5461 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/4\/files\/2017\/08\/Be-Aware-Without-Judgement-Separate-Yourself-From-Your-Mind.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Be-Aware-Without-Judgement-Separate-Yourself-From-Your-Mind.png 1200w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Be-Aware-Without-Judgement-Separate-Yourself-From-Your-Mind-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Be-Aware-Without-Judgement-Separate-Yourself-From-Your-Mind-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Be-Aware-Without-Judgement-Separate-Yourself-From-Your-Mind-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>3. Simply Say, <em>\u201cThank You For Sharing\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When it comes to other people, they\u2019re just trying to feed you their poison.<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0why would you want to eat their poison? Just because somebody gives you poison doesn\u2019t mean you have to eat it. It doesn\u2019t mean you have to swallow it. It doesn\u2019t mean you have to wallow in it. It doesn\u2019t mean you have to bathe in it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Their poison is theirs. It comes from their background and their conditioning. It\u2019s not truly &#8220;them&#8221; either.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have poison inside you, what are you \u2014 to naturally protect yourself \u2014 going to try to do? Get rid of it, right?<\/p>\n<p>So next time someone is saying something nasty, or something negative, or even anything that you feel is not becoming to you, understand this is their <em>own<\/em> poison. If you argue with them, it means you\u2019re trying to give back their poison.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Again<\/strong>, <strong>it\u2019s their own stuff. It\u2019s their own stress. It\u2019s their own fear. That\u2019s all that\u2019s happening.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, you can simply say, <em>\u201cThank you for sharing.\u201d<\/em> If you\u2019re really a good friend, you\u2019ll listen for a bit and let them express it\u2026 <strong>but not absorb it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>I&#8217;d like to share this example with you from my own personal experience&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When I\u2019m in seminars, believe it or not, during our break-time, most people who come up to engage with me are very grateful and are there to learn \u2014 but some other people are there to be just to be &#8220;right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course, to be right, I have to be wrong, true? So they\u2019ll come up to me and criticize something about me or my seminar, and I generally just thank them and move on. They might then insist on telling me why they didn\u2019t enjoy my presentation. Eventually, I\u2019ll need to move on to the next person, and have forgotten what that person said in about a millionth of a second,\u00a0because I am not going to let that slime stick on me.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know why?<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s because I have another student who is grateful, happy and wants to learn and I am not going to transfer that first person\u2019s slime onto my next person. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No way am I doing that to them, so I\u2019ve got to let it go quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, sometimes I get hooked in. After the interaction, I feel myself all jittery and I think, <em>\u201cWhy did I entertain that?\u201d<\/em> I\u2019ll judge myself right away, but then breathe through it and follow the above three steps. And it\u2019s these times when I decide to let it go and move on, that nobody has any criticism for me!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5462 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/4\/files\/2017\/08\/Let-it-go-quickly.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Let-it-go-quickly.png 1200w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Let-it-go-quickly-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Let-it-go-quickly-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/files\/2017\/08\/Let-it-go-quickly-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Once This Mindset Is A Habit, You&#8217;ll Be Truly Unstoppable In Every Area Of Your Life!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s the way of the Universe:<\/p>\n<p><strong>When we accept things as they are, instead of resisting, things seem to work in our favor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I understand there\u2019s a subconscious response to certain issues and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/stop-fear-from-running-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fear<\/a><\/span>, but it\u2019s a practice. How do you think you change your subconscious? You change your subconscious\/unconscious first by <strong>making the unconscious conscious.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first thing you do is consciously come up with a method for stressful or intense situations. For example, <em>\u201cThe next time a person raises his voice, I\u2019m going to respond like this,\u201d<\/em> and you consciously create a <em>method<\/em> that works for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ve got to let it go consciously first. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When does the conscious become unconscious? Through repetition and practice. You can\u2019t do something one time and have it become unconscious or subconscious overnight. It takes frequency.<\/p>\n<p>You do it again and again, and pretty soon that dendrite takes over. That neurological pathway becomes the path of least resistance, then it becomes unconscious. And once you have your own method of dealing with this toxic energy, and you\u2019ve practiced it enough times, it will make its way into your subconscious.<\/p>\n<p>From here, you\u2019ll be able to repel the negative energy from those around you, and instead, <strong>focus on all the positive and exciting things happening around you<\/strong>.\u00a0Once this mindset is a habit, you\u2019ll be<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.harveker.com\/blog\/become-warrior-take-action-towards-success\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>truly unstoppable<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>in every area of your life.<\/p>\n<div id=\"likeThisLesson\">\n<p>As I mentioned, the first step for ALL change to take place is <strong>awareness<\/strong>.
