Have you ever found yourself wondering… “Why is the life I want so far from the life I’m living now?”
Wondering why you don’t have the money, freedom, health, or relationships you want? And how long you’re going to have to wait to find the happiness, fulfillment, and inner peace that you’ve dreamed of?
The truth is, you’re not alone. Probably 90% of the people I meet just aren’t living the life they hoped for.
But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get there.
When you look at the fraction of people who actually have the lives that other people dream of — that lucky 10% — there are some key differences they do in life that really set them apart from the crowd. And most of these things aren’t that big, or hard to do – you just have to know how to do them!
So today I’m going to go over a few of those daily practices that set the happiest, most successful people in the world apart – so you can put them into practice in your own life.
Ready to get started? If so, let’s go!
1. Create A Strategy & Plan For Success
When most people set goals, they’re imagining where they want to be in a month, a year, a decade… And there’s nothing wrong with that. The problem is that most people, firstly, don’t know what they want or why they want it, and secondly, they don’t come up with a strategy for how they’re going to actually make it happen.
It doesn’t matter how lofty your goals are — if you just keep doing the same things you’ve always done you’ll keep getting the results you’ve always gotten. So instead, dive deep and find out what it is you want and why, and make a real thought through plan on how you’re going to get exactly what you want.
So, for example, say you want to manage your money better. You could get a good book or program on money management. You could also hire a good financial planner to help you.
But what won’t work is continuing to eat expensive meals out twice a week and go on regular shopping sprees, expecting things to somehow change. Make sense?
One problem I see so often is people who get so overwhelmed by the idea of making their goals a reality that they just shut down. But if you take the time to learn more about the steps you need to take, it gets a lot easier to make a specific plan with a clear direction of where you need to go.
So let’s say you’re considering hiring a life coach. Maybe your first step is simply to call a friend who has one and get a referral for their life coach. Or you could simply take 5-minutes to look up reviews on Google so you know where to begin.
That’s all it takes, but it can be the difference between actually designing your life and taking action (an important quality shared by the most successful people in the world) versus simply thinking about it. From there, you can learn more and start to build up your knowledge about what you want to do and what your next step is.

2. Put Your Knowledge, Skills, & Systems In Place
Okay, so now that you have a strategy and you’ve gained some information about what it’s going to take – now what?
Well, having goals and a plan in place is great… but you’re also going to need a system to actually make the leap from thinking about what you want to do to the reality. This is where a time-proven system comes into place.
So what do I mean by systems? A system is defined as the actions you need to take on a repeatable basis — something you can do consistently and get clearly defined results over and over and over again — so that over time, it allows you to reach your goal and make your dreams a reality.
So if you want to write a book, your system is committing to write a few pages each day. If you want to learn to play guitar, it’s following a routine each time you are learning to play so you can eventually play it all the way through.
And if you’re trying to grow your business, you can set up consistent marketing systems that bring in new potential customers every day.
Good or good?

3. Aim For Small Wins & Reward Yourself
Let’s be honest – nothing ever goes to plan. Especially when you are trying something new. When you have big goals, reaching them can sometimes feel almost impossible or out of reach. But if you learn to approach these goals in manageable bite sized chunks and consistently set yourself up for the small wins, it becomes a lot easier to stay motivated and achieve your goals.
Think about your goals the way you’d think about hiking or climbing a mountain. If you’re always keeping your gaze at the top of that dauntingly high mountain, you’ll only see how far you still have to go. Discouraging, true or true?
But if you set smaller milestones and keep your eyes on the path in front of you, you can really appreciate and celebrate each smaller win. Eventually, those dozens of small wins will add up into one big one.
And each time you make one of these small wins… reward yourself! Just because you haven’t reached the top of the peak doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to celebrate what you have accomplished. Good or good?!

4. Have An Accountability Partner Or Group
Finally, it’s no use having goals if you don’t share them. Why? Because if no one knows you’re working toward them, it’s way too tempting to make excuses. Before you know it, “I’m too busy, maybe later” turns into a week… a month… or even a year.
Some people have great success by charting their actions or keeping a scorecard of their results — which is the whole idea behind a to-do list. But if you’re like a lot of people… you know that to-do lists tend to sit gathering dust.
So what’s the solution? I’ve found that good, old-fashioned peer pressure can do wonders.
Think about it. When you’re accountable to another person, or a group of people, there’s three main things that happen:
- Support — When you are accountable to someone else they are often in your corner, working with you and for you and adding their energy and resources to the direction you want to go.
- An Outside Opinion — It’s hard to accurately track your own progress, and this is a problem everyone has, even me. When you’re so close to your own work, it really helps to have someone else act as a reality check.
- Human Nature — People don’t like to admit it, but having the approval of others is important! When other people are watching, we try harder. And when we try harder, we tend to do better, and get better results. it’s that simple.

Are You Ready To Give This Process A Go Yourself? Hold On Just A Second…
It’s one thing to read about these steps, but for a lot of people, actually putting them into practice is really hard. And the truth is, there’s only so much I can really teach you in this lesson. While these are some of the pieces you’ll need to be successful, they’re only a part of the puzzle.
After 30 plus years in business I can tell you there is not one path to success, but there are definite ways to make sure you get on the right path.
After years of experimenting, I’ve boiled my process down for getting exactly what you want in your life to only 7 simple steps — 7 steps that you can use over and over again to achieve your ultimate life. And I personally walk you through these steps on my free web class, The Ultimate Life Makeover.
