Are you tired of living the same old life day in, day out? Well, I have some great news—you can do something about it!
By changing your habitual thoughts, you change your feelings about your situations, which then changes how you act and what you do, and then, before you know it, your life as a whole has changed! In other words:
Thoughts → Feelings → Actions → Results
We all have habitual thoughts — thoughts that pop into our head the second after we think about making a change. They often keep us doing the same things, going the same places, and having the same experiences. They impact literally every aspect of our lives, and, the thing is, they’re just reflexes. They’re usually not even true!
Take Charge Of The Remote
One way to change your thoughts is to imagine you’ve got a remote control that can change the channel in your mind.
For example, a friend was telling me how much he dislikes being around his mother-in-law. He said she’d made it clear in the beginning that she didn’t think he was rich or good enough for her daughter.
That was ages ago, though. Now he’s a successful lawyer, and he doesn’t even know if this is still an issue for her. Regardless, his habitual thought still popped up every time he was around her: “She thinks I’m not good enough, so I have to prove I am.” No wonder he didn’t want to spend time with her!
By taking charge of the remote control and changing the “channel” to see a different scenario — in this case, that he was good enough, and she thought so, too — he was able to let go of the habitual thought. And by doing that, he changed both his emotional reaction and his relationship with his mother-in-law. Good or good?
The remote control idea can work in any situation — personal, professional, and even spiritual. You could switch the channel to see yourself in a different job, back at school, volunteering, eating a different type of diet, in a new relationship, moving from the country to the city… the possibilities are endless!
Once you’ve changed the channel, notice how you feel. Does it make you feel light and happy, weighed down, or totally neutral?
I really want you to observe this closely because it’ll help you decide whether the scenario is something you want to work towards. If it feels good, go for it! If not, don’t. Yes, it can be that simple.
Old Thought Habits Are Keeping You Stuck
The reason you think the same way all the time is because it’s habitual. So in order for you to have a different life, you’re going to have to have a different way of thinking.
That’s why it’s important to notice your thought habits. They often show up as a “Yes, but” thought:
- “I got offered my dream job! Yes, but I can’t take it because it pays less.”
- “If I eat less sugar, I’ll be healthier. Yes, but life’s too short to deprive myself.”
- “This relationship isn’t working, so I should end it. Yes, but my family and friends love him/her.”
- “I’ve got a great idea for a business! Yes, but what if it’s a bust?”
You might know my favorite response when your mind brings up habitual thoughts: “Thank you for sharing.”
After that, use your handy-dandy remote to change your visual. That should give a clearer picture of what changes you need, and from there you can take the steps to make the change happen.
Small Changes Can Make An Impact
Here’s the truth: If you’re feeling stuck, you have to make some kind of change. Period.
Luckily, small changes can have a big effect. Sometimes, all it takes is changing up your routine. Maybe you go to the gym at a different time and meet your soulmate. Maybe you go to the library and find a book that changes your life. Maybe you try meditating and finally start feeling some much-needed peace.
Whatever your change is, big or small, remember that you must address your old thought habits too. Otherwise, the chances of your changes sticking are slim to none.
You’ve Got This!
I know change can be hard. If it were easy, people would do it all the time! But if it’s something that’s right, it’s worth it.
I have no doubt you’re up to the challenge, and now you’ve got some tools to help you out, too. Remember, making these changes — from your thoughts to your actions — is the only way you’ll become happier, richer, more successful, and finally able to live the life you want and deserve.
I’d love to hear what kind of change you want to make. In fact, if you write it in the comments below, it can be both as a pledge and a way to inspire others!
The truth is, sometimes when we go through our days based on habits alone, it’s because we’ve lost our passion.
If that resonates with you, I highly recommend my free class, ”Passion, Purpose, Profits.”
The name really says it all! In this class, I’ll teach you how to align with your passion, how to bring purpose to your life beyond taking care of the to-dos, and, of course, how to rake in the profits, too.
It’s all based on powerful strategies that I and countless students have used to bring an abundance of meaning and money into our lives. So if that sounds good to you (and how could it not?), please register to participate for free here. I’m excited to have you join me!

Hi mr. Eker, i am doing your Secrets to your inner power study. It has been amazing! It took me 3x to watch u on FB before i signed up. Was hesitant about spending the $$. So glad i did. Im also reading, Secrets of tbe millionaire mind. Learno g alot. I really want to change my life. I am broke, a single mom, & the dad is not involved, i have 8 kids but 3 r still at home. I work tremendously hard to support them. I used to teach aerobic classes for 20 years at a club, it was my passion. I was a good teacher & a influence on those whom. I taught. I have a passion to open up my own boxing gym, (love boxing , makes me breathe😁). I did open a savings acct to have 100.00 out of every check deposited & used for investing. I am making baby steps to change my life. U say to take action but i dont know how. I dont have funds to rent someplace. I would love your feedback. My desire is to become a successful business owner so that i may support my kids, be financially free & have something established to pass to my kids. I love inspiring others to make fitness a lifestyle not a to-do list. It is hard when im just getting by. What do u suggest? Am i to be patient & keep saving , then look for something? Or are there steps i can take to start this? I personally get stuck thinking, ive lost all my certifications since the divorce. All my energy goes into paying bills. I live wrking out & it is a definite lifestyle for me & it is the place i grow the most physically , mentally & emotionally. When im at the gym, i dont struggle or doubt myself & i act on any fear that i may have about doing any exercise. Y is it so difficult to transfer that mindset to other parts of my life? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Pam, Thanks for sharing your story. This is not one answer question. I think the best thing to do is join our facebook group so we can better serve you! You are a student so you get free access. Anyways I will try and give you the best answer possible. The first goal is to understand what business you want to start and what market you want to serve. Do you want to create a new type of fitness training? Do you want to do boot camp? Do you want to create a product or supplement? Also, who is your target market? Is it single moms? Defining this will help you with the ideation. Once you have some ideas that resonate with you then you can test some ideas out. I’d suggest you start with friends to see what kind of results they get. Give them free services or products in return for testimonials (if it works of course). Then you can use a strategy called pre-selling. Basically, pre-sell your service or product before you actually create it. That means you get money upfront without taking to big a risk and you can use that money to fund your business. I’d love to hash this out with you so hopefully you join the group so we can interact 🙂
