How to Overcome Fear: Take Action In Spite Of Fear
Fear is like an overprotective mother. It tells you “stop” and “no,” not because it doesn’t want you to succeed, but because it wants to keep you safe. But just like we can often convince our worried mothers to give us the green light, we can get fear on our side, as well.
Try these tip to ease your fear:
1. Offer Reassurance
You can’t master fear by attacking it with brute force, but you can tame it with reassurance. You have to tell it, “I hear you and understand, but don’t worry. Everything is going to be okay.”
While your fear may not go away, reassurance can help train your mind for handling this emotion in a more productive way. The next time fear stops you in your tracks, you’ll be better prepared to realize that you can manage whatever comes your way. You’ll know that the worst-case scenario created by that fear simply isn’t going to happen.
2. Acknowledge The Fear, But Act Anyway
Fear will always be there, but you have to remember that you’re in control. When thoughts of fear begin to take over, you can acknowledge those feelings, but decide to move forward anyway.
