Discover How Living By This One Principle Will Instantly Help You Overcome Challenges & Create Happiness In Your Life

Reading Time: 4 minutes

June 28, 2019 By T. Harv Eker 24 Comments

Whatever situation you’re in, it’s not the actual situation that determines your life. It’s your response to it.

That means you have got to practice being the wizard, the one who goes with the flow… the one who is attraction-based… the one who is able to allow things to unfold, who is patient… the one who breathes a lot and maintains their happiness no matter what chaos is going on.

If you are one of the millions of people out there who derives your satisfaction and happiness from how well you’re doing, you will not be a happy person for a lot of your life — because then you’ll have the type of mind that is always looking for what’s wrong, so ultimately you cannot win.

I was one of these people who derived a lot of my happiness from my success. When I play golf, for example, I’m not really all that successful. The funny thing is that golf’s important to me, and I’m working on it the best I can, but I find myself stressed out playing golf. Why is that? It’s supposed to be an enjoyable game.

It’s because I want to do well, and if I don’t do well I’m not happy with myself. It’s the same thing with business and every other part of your life.

About three weeks ago, I played golf. In golf you play 18 holes. There’s a front nine and the back nine. On the back nine, I played better than I had in 20 years. I thought, “Wow! Who is this guy playing all of a sudden?” Everything I was doing was working.

At the end of it, I was happy, but then right away my mind went into thinking, “This isn’t going to last. You’d better get ready for disappointment, because next time it isn’t going to be so easy. It took 20 years to have a round like this.”

Of course, the next time I played I wasn’t quite as good, and I was not happy again. I thought to myself, “I should just give up this game. It’s really stupid. It’s not good for my back.” I started to make myself crazy.

This is what everybody tends to do. It’s not “the golf.” It’s me.

I’m going to give you a principle that will instantly create happiness in your life…

If you can grow yourself to a person that is bigger than any of your problems, you’ll be a happy person.

If you can grow yourself to the person that is the wizard, a person who succeeds with elegance and joy — you will be a person that is bothered by very little.

If you can be that kind of person that is bigger than any of your challenging moments or roadblocks, and instead, use them to help you learn and grow, then you’ll have the biggest success of life, which is to grow yourself to the best version of yourself — the best version of yourself in business, money, relationships, and your health. If you can grow yourself to that level, you will be successful at anything you do.

Highly successful people are bigger than their problems while unsuccessful people are smaller than their problems.

Now I want you to think about something for a moment…

If you’re still with me, then maybe you can handle what I’ll call the truth for most people. Most people just can’t handle it. However, I believe reading this lesson in the first place puts you into a class of people that can.

I want to ask you a hard question:

What are you really like when life gets hard? What do you do or not do when the going is not so good?

Successful people dig deep and do whatever it takes, and I mean whatever it takes, to succeed.

Successful people make goals and take action when life becomes hard.

They find solutions and put systems into place so they can overcome problems, learn from them, and spend more time on the things that are really important to their life.

What do unsuccessful people do? They do what they always do when it gets hard. They quit, give up and say, “This business is too hard. This company has this problem. The product has this problem. If I went over there to that other company or business, then I could really succeed.” It’s the old “there is better than here” excuse. In other words, the grass is greener.

But here’s the reality, my friends, like it or not: If you can’t make it here, you won’t make it there or anywhere else.

It’s not about the other company or business. It’s about the you that’s going to either be bigger or smaller than any challenge life has to give you — happy and successful or side-railed by inevitable bumps along the way. The choice is always yours.

And if you’d like to discover even more ways to harness the power growing yourself to be the best version of YOU, I’ve got something you’re going to LOVE.

I’ve created an awesome, FREE online training that reveals why the mind works the way it does, and how you can gain control of it. It’s called…

“Don’t Believe A Thought You Think”

I truly believe mastery of your thoughts is the most important skill you can learn. But don’t take my word for it– come decide for yourself!

Love this. Trying to be happier in the moment is the reason for every decision we make. The logic used my be faulty, but it’s still what we’re trying to do.

I love the concept that these beliefs don’t have to necessarily be true in order to work. It feels empowering just to choose trust and happiness before I’ve had a chance to practice the declarations long term.

Rather than share my story I totally agree with everything that is said in you article. My story will keep for now as it is still on going thus looking for a mentor that doesn’t talk so much BS then hit you with this and that, not what I need. I call it like it is, and the work you do and have done T Harv is astounding in my opinion, I take my hat off to you Sir. I am making plans as I write this email to be the best I can be in becoming something I never knew was possible (everyone thinks I’m nuts). It seems these days most people want to be a speaker and so be it, but my desire is to become a person who hits you where you need it most and have such a profound affect on you that is transforms your life. The right mentor is what I need and when you have that connection towards someone then something is going on and who knows better than you. Thanks for taking my email and keep up the good work.

Last may 16th I had to sacrifice my dog because he wasn’t be able to walk by himself again, eventhough he still wanted to live. It was the worst thing I’ve ever lived in my life (I’m 40). What I didi afterwards? Of course cry a river for have lost my friend, feel guilty, remember every detail of the moment he was diyng in my arms, but really felt scared, I felt I was going to die too, so I asked for help to paint my house again, reorder my furniture, fill with plants everywhere, start doing what I had stopped doing because I was accompanying him, I wasn’t be able to take a walk with my other dog, for example, or going to the woods he used to loved too, so I couldn’t go without him. But now I can, so the next day I went to the woods with my dog, as I said I changed everything into my house and clean every blanket that was dirty, and keep going on. It is funny how everything felt different and changed drasticaly even around me. I lost some people that were working with me, but I knew new people… I just let things happen, I know now that I can’t control life, I just decide for me and the way I understand every moment. Thak you for reading me! Greetings from Mexico City.

I played golf my entire life and never was that great but always had fun! I worked with a personal trainer and he worked on my swing and the next time I played with my father, he said, “What the heck have you been doing?” I had used a personal trainer who specializes in golf fitness. Check him out!

Suggestion: The PDF with quotes in not print friendly. It would be nice to have a version that I could print with a normal home printer.

Thank you so much for this article.

I was instantly delivered from a small minded thinking that made me have self-pity once things don’t go as planned. This small mindedness made me lose my joy and self confidence.

However, after reading this article, I noticed an instant mind switch. I took control of my feelings and almost immediately, things started falling into place for me.

Thanks Harv for publishing this article. I’m extremely grateful. God bless.
