The Resolution that Lasts a Lifetime

Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, at their roots, have had historic importance worldwide for thousands of years. Many ancient peoples celebrated the Winter Solstice with different kinds of festivals and rituals with themes of death, birth, gifting, praising, etc.
Some historians trace New Year traditions back to the Babylonians of 4,000 years ago. For them, this time of year meant paying off debts or returning borrowed items, a different way of “resolving” their issues. There was a sense of accountability as well as celebrating what’s to come. We have our parties and Auld Lang Syne too, yet our resolutions tend to focus on ourselves: losing weight; quitting smoking; or making a million dollars—being better or more than we were before.
You don’t need New Year’s to remind you to stay on track toward your goals. Success-building is a daily routine, yes or yes? The fact is, though, that most people are not going to keep their resolutions. Some surveys suggest only about 8% will stick to their resolve by year’s end, and a whopping 45% will fail by the end of January!
While the reasons range from fear of success or failure to resolving the wrong things for the wrong reasons, maybe we should resolve instead to grow every day, one day at a time. This is what it really means to be present. It’s not a coincidence that we use the same word to recognize the now-moment as we do to define a gift.
The seed of all the great things in our lives—who we are; who we want to be; what motivates our desires, what determines whether or not we achieve success—is happening right now. Everything. If we want quality answers that are meant to ease our anxieties about the future, it means we have to ask quality questions now, which is the quality of present moment awareness. As our awareness expands so does our vision, our ability to be in tune with what is happening—what will happen—as our intuition guides us in spite of uncertainty.
Our ancestors wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for planning and anticipation of the inevitability of change, guiding their ability to plant, harvest and know when not to. Nor would they have had reasons to ritualize endings, beginnings, celebration of success or reflect on past mistakes if it weren’t for planning for the change of seasons. It’s in our best interest to plan as much as we can to work toward what we want to see happen. The truth is, though, we don’t always know what’s coming around the corner. We can take educated guesses, but there’s no such thing as absolute certainty.
In the end, all we ever really have is now, and this is where we will find our richness. Now is when we can reflect, think, make decisions, act or not act—not tomorrow. There’s always only now. Giving yourself to the present moment is the best gift of all—it’s the resolution that lasts a lifetime, every minute of every day. It’s in the present that all things become possible.
From the entire Harv Eker International Team, Happy Holidays and have a great start to another year of growth, learning, happiness, success, and richness!
For Your Freedom,

Thank you Harv, for that interest you have in us, or better to say in me, I always tray to follow your advices. Happy new year to you!
Very good sir karma time
T Harv,
Since attending the MMI several years ago, I have set goals. What I found for me if I worked on them alone I did not attain them. When I set a team in place and work with team for support and my own accountability I am able attain those goals. Not 100%, at least 80 to 90% success rate. I get to look at what is stopping from moving forward. To me that is very rewarding. Thank you for all you have given to me, also to others.
I don’t have the words to express my thanks to you Harv………….
Being in the moment is the greatest success resolution. Whenever I live in the moment my day is totally awesome, when not the day just goes bye.
Thanks a lot for reminding me to be in the zone.
I had a spiritual awakening at the first event that I attended. I didn’t know what was happening, I wasn’t grounded, I was steeped in addictions. It has been many years since then and I have explored many other possibilities to help myself to which I discovered what I think is the key cause of my stuckedness, and even though get this insight through T. Harv Ecker, I know that it couldn’t have been done without him. He still delivers the good or goods!
Totally Grateful , Best remind me back to my inner world. Best wish for you Harv ,your family and your great teamwork. Also belong to their family and all human being in this planet 🙂
its good motivated class….great.
Thank you T Harv Eker and the Team that helps you, I’m learning so much my life has changed a great deal to the better, now and zen. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Wow I totally agree about planning! I really admire our ancestors and how they planned their lives. I plan my whole days, events, shopping, business plans, and even more so since I met you T Harv Ecker. Todays life is so conveniently blasé with a take it as it comes lifestyle which I find totally unacceptable – no wonder so many people don’t have what they want. They just don’t know what they want and it is not going to come by waiting. Plan it! Thank you so much T Harv Ecker for giving me the tools to plan and make those goals happen.
Thanks !!!
Understand the reason for the season and act upon it, Surely the resolutions will last.
Merry Christmas and A happy new year wishes to all.Augustine
In 1999 I had intuitive urge to clear clutter. I committed to clearing every drawer, closet, and cabinet in our ranch style house that was nice but with our growing kids we were busting out at the seams. I also committed to a gratitude journal every day for the year.
It took a year for me to do this project with life on life’s terms. In March of 2000 I was on my way to Costco with my son and decided to take a different route. I stopped in front in this big empty house with a for sale sign on it and looked at it. My son jumped out and picked up the flyer.
We took the flyer home, showed it to my husband and got our first “no”. So I made an appointment to go see the house, loaded up all the kids, and asked my husband if he would like to come along.
The house was perfect, we put our house up for sale and with in a month we had a cash buyer. We moved in on Mother’s day weekend; it only took two weeks to pack up our ranch house.
Now when I look at that story I know that I cleared the space for our family to expand by letting go. I acknowledged my gratitude for what we did have each and every day.
So for 2015 I am following this process again.
Thank you to all of you for doing this work. I am wishing you all the best.
Thank You, Harv, for Your program, Your teaching and Your great team. I wish You all the best: merry christmas and a happy new year!
Hi T. Harv Eker. Thank you so much for all your “great” advise and training. I love this saying- “The past is over, the future is a mystery and all we really have is “Now”, so make it amazing”! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
