Think Rich, Get Rich: Is it really that simple?
Each time I am on stage or working directly with my students in my mastermind groups, I tell them, “Don’t just take my word for anything.” And I mean it. Not everything is always right or wrong, and experience is always the best teacher. Anything we learn has to put it to the test for ourselves. However, I will say that what I’ve learned has worked for me, and it’s worked for thousands. I am sure, especially during this economic challenge, that you have seen “financial gurus” promising you secrets on how to change your financial situation instantly. What makes me any different than the others? Why should anybody listen to me?
It’s not like I had some special gift that got me to where I am today. Like some of the best things in life, the turning point in my financial destiny came to me completely out of my control. See, after yet another failed business venture, I was forced to move back into my parents’ basement. A visiting friend of my father’s—a very rich friend—took pity on this 20-something still living with his folks and gave me advice that literally changed my life.
He said, “If you thought the way rich people do and did what rich people do, do you believe you could become rich too?” I probably hemmed and hawed some kind of ‘I guess’ response, and he added, “Then all you have to do is copy how rich people think.”
The missing ingredient in my bid for financial success was two-fold. Not only was it knowing what other successful people know, but it was also knowing what was going on in my own mind.
Without examining our true beliefs, sometimes we can block our own success and not even realize it. For me, even though I said I wanted to be rich, I had some unconscious worries about it. I was afraid that I might fail, or even worse, succeed and then lose it all, then look like a fool.
Eventually, I became aware of how my own thoughts were holding me back from wealth, and more importantly, I learned several powerful ways to “unlearn” what we’re typically conditioned to think when it comes to money, so I would think in the same ways that rich people do.
How many times have you challenged your own thoughts and beliefs about money, or about who you really are for that matter? How do you really feel about yourself? Do you actually believe that you deserve to be wealthy? Our personal blueprint ends up determining our money blueprint, and we need to understand these influences before we can begin transforming into a millionaire mindset.
I believe our lives are shaped by defining moments and the decisions that we make from them. From one embarrassing yet insightful incidence, I made a decision to learn everything I could about the psychology of money and success. My results speak for themselves.
It’s true: rich people really do think differently than most. To make that transition, you have to let go of some of your old ways of thinking about money and about yourself, and adopt some new thought patterns. In other words, you need to learn how to think like someone who is rich.
It really is that simple. If you think like rich people do and do what they do, chances are you’ll get rich too!

It really begins with the mind. Thinking is the beginning. I heard this from John Maxwell, I also just wanna share…
When you change your thinking, you change your beliefs.
When you change your beliefs, you change your expectations.
When you change your expectations, you change your attitude.
When you change your attitude, you change your behavior.
When you change your behavior, you change your performance.
When you change your performance, you change your life.
Thanks T. Harv Eker. 🙂
I agree with you sir. They already proved that their way to succeed was proven and we just need to copy and become like one…but we also need to be prepare to kick out our old thought..
We have to be careful that we do not get confused with rich people thinking vs. masses thinking.

How can I help?
I am willing to change.
I am in the process of changing my self and my money blueprints!
A while ago, I reached a point where I said to myself…”Forget everything that you thought you once knew, because if what you knew were right, you'd be where you want to be right now.” So I understand having to recondition the mind all too well. Many of us grow up with beliefs about life that are nowhere near true, and that sure isn't benefiting us. We believe these things simply because when we were young, someone else told us that we had to. Once you reach a certain point in life, you're old enough to know better. You're old enough to challenge what you've learned about the world and form more beneficial beliefs, and if you don't, the fault lies with you.
What does all of this have to do with making money? It's simply. The beliefs we have about life, as Mr. Eker stated, is what it boils down to. Our beliefs shape our lives. It's the way of the universe.

very true. It does take a huge amount of self awareness and a skill to see through the ego that is doing a very good job at telling us that we a right. Once you can step aside from your ego consciousness (and luckily there are great techniques out there), do something that you have never done before (and that even might have seemed ridiculous to you) you will give yourself the chance of entering a new realm where things are much easier and happier 🙂
You're always so encouraging…thanks. E. June Griffin
My husband & I were talking about having plateaued. We did re-set our thermostats drastically after MMI many years ago. What my husband realized in our conversation is that he's been aiming for comfortable because we've been on different paths and are not sufficiently “together”. His fear is that if we work on creating full financial freedom it will pull us apart. Interesting – and possibly opening the doors to our next transformation and re-set.
Supermans letting go of all of his unsupportive beliefs and agreements and replacing them with Supportive beliefs and Agreements. He's working on his Roots and stretching his COMFORT ZONE constantly…Up, Up and Away!
I love this post. Thanks Harv.
Also, your seminars are the best I have seen so far for wealth programming. Everything starts with mind. It's not how clever you are, it's your attitude and actions that shows the fruits of your labour.
Quote from Calvin Coolidge 1872-1933:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
Agree with the ariticle. We need to unlearn the poor people mindset to learn the rich people mindset. The most important thing we can learn from rich people is their patient and persistent. I am an internet marketer, I realized that how important to be patient and persistent. All you have to do is an extra hour per day to make you different from other people. Eventually, when each hours accumulated will become many hours different after many years.
After understanding this, my temper totally changed. I am not impatient anymore, I don't get angry easily, I feel comfortable and it helps me in my business.
