Get the Ball Rolling in 2013

After the initial enthusiasm over new years resolutions for 2013 dwindles, keeping motivated, committed and moving toward accomplishing those goals is often tough. For many of us, our resolutions slowly vanish from our daily thoughts and actions and we wind up creating those same EXACT resolutions the following year.
So what’s the secret formula to staying on track with your new years resolutions?
Taking ACTION and staying CONSISTENT! To hell if conditions aren’t perfect, or if this circumstance isn’t quite ideal or that person isn’t following through the way they said they would. We’ve got to take all these principles learned throughout the years and put them into action.
This can become another one of those “Duh, Harv” moments. “Of course you have to take action and stay consistent.” But are these two principles that most people follow and really live by?
That’s exactly where a lot of people get stuck and give up on their goals, even those with greater awareness and knowledge. You know you want to work out, need to get into better shape for the sake of generating more energy to work your mission. But what step is often the hardest to take? It’s not the goal you set nor the resolution you create for yourself. It’s the first step that’s the hardest!
Sometimes getting the ball rolling can feel like pushing a boulder uphill, metaphorically speaking. You need to build the next muscle and final spiritual muscle that separates the successful from those still waiting at the gate: momentum.
Momentum is that force that makes it easier for someone who’s successful to do what’s right than to do what’s wrong. Momentum is that process of getting that snowball moving. The hardest part about working out is getting to the gym. Once you get there, it’s not that hard to do.
When you’re in motion, that’s when things begin to line up, not before (that goes for you perfectionist!). A body in motion will remain in motion and a body at rest will remain at rest. What do we want to do? Get into motion! Once you’re there, it gets easier. We already know that. Now we need to just do it.
What in your life do you need to get started and adjust as you go? What have you been waiting for? What’s the fear? Is that true or did you just make it up?
For 2013, I challenge you to set smaller, incremental goals for yourself to gain momentum, and then adjust those goals as you go. Don’t forget to celebrate EVERY goal accomplished, no matter how small.
Now we want to hear from you! What changes will you make in 2013 to get the ball rolling and really gain some momentum for the best year of your life? Share your plans in the comments below and let our online community support you and give you ideas to move you in the right direction!
Happy New Year!

I will work one hour a day on building a Website to generate leads and market my Real Estate Business.
Go for it Belinda!
Yes – starting with small successes and steps get’s you going.
I am happy that I saw your comment. I too have a website, but I ‘ve stopped writing articles…. Your commitment has prompted me to resume my work. Thanks Belinda!
Shankar, India
Awesome Belinda! Your commitment inspired others to commit!
First off, thanks for all the pearls of wisdom, it’s always much appreciated! I actually got the ball rolling a few years back (and also got a lot wiser reading your book a number of times), but this year I’ll follow your advice to (stop and) celebrate more instead of just raising the bar. Cheers!
Great! Thank you for the kind words.
Hi Harv,
January is always a great time to get the boll rolling.
I wanted to thank you. I have been reading, and rereading the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind now (a 4th time to be exact)…but for the past 2 years it has been the same results.
This year, however, it IS different. This time around I am reading it with my partner. All of a sudden, it just clicked. Pretty obvious lessons, but it is about momentum, action and consistency.
In less than a month, already my ‘wealth’ is increasing and has been leveraged.
From focusing just on ‘income’, this time I’m diversifying my means of getting wealth by increasing my savings, investing and simplyfying.
We are on our way. Fear has stopped me, but we just officially made our first trade i the stock market. And, lo and behold, total ‘net’ asset we have is already 25% higher than if I just focused on collecting my paycheck. Woohoo!!!
Thank you 3x.
It is such a shame that I missed your seminar when it was here in Australia.
I hope you will have another one set up for Sydney soon, we would love to attend your definite and proven system.
Sincerely,
Bon (Sydney, Australia)
Bon,
Thank you for sharing and the kind words! Looks like 2013 is going to be forced to take you seriously! Keep it up!
Thanks for this reminder Harv. After any hiatus of working out, whenever I drive to the gym and park my car in the gym parking lot, I always say to myself “80% of success is just showing up! I’ve showed up. I’ve done the hardest part. Now the workout will be easy!” And then I get out of the car and get at it!
I am going to create a list of weekly goals and accomplish each one of them by weeks end! 🙂
I´LL GET MY MOMENTUM AND NOT GET IT AWAY.
I’m a stock and future trader, and one of my mistakes last year was trying to go for the kill, the gain, a big win. It didn’t work out so good. So this year I’m taking smaller wins, staying on a consistent small wins. Reshaping my mind to see the better buys and sells. I’m off to a great start.
I don’t know about the smaller profits idea. As rare as a trend day is, I want to capture as much of it until my trailing stop was taken out. What is the saying” Eat like a bird, sh***t like an elephant.”
Hi Harv.
I enjoyed meeting you and the book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” that I am learning many new things and a new way of thinking and revolutionary.
I’m from Lleida (Catalonia) Spain and this year I will build my first 100,000 € in Internet.
I’m doing a CPA Marketing course and my goal is to live the Internet in less than 6 months.
Thanks for everything.
A hug!
Dani
good to hear from you even after to passed the torch at Peak Potentials.
Aline,
I’m still VERY involved in Peaks as a full on consultant as well as teaching, and I hope this will give me MORE time to write and create more programs.
I will help many more committed, consistent hard working people in my organisation achieve their goals and dreams.
I will donate a large % of my profits to charitable organisations.
I will invest an extra two hours daily to improve my self development.
My goals this year are to finish my 4th novel and then to turn all 6 of my books into audio books to expand my customer and fan base by June 2013.
I want to be the best salesperson in real estate in 2013
Can you be more specific? Start with SMART goals, then break them down into smaller chunks. How about achieving the million dollar club, earning $50k this year, getting 50 referrals, winning a local RE award…? “Best” isn’t measurable.
Great advice!
Thank you both for sharing.
I will contact 1 person per day to look for new, excited, business partners
Hi Doreen
I am looking for business partner as well lets network.
When you talk about taking that first step that gives you the momentum, it reminds me of what you always say, “ready, aim, fire, fire, fire, aim, fire, fire…”
Anyone who has handled an assault weapon on the shooting range, knows that you have to adjust your aim as you fire because you will never know where the bullet goes even if you aim perfectly first.
This year, I’m marketing a new service to healthcare providers and pharmacies. The scary thing is that I’m going to be selling it to a foreign market. This is beyond my comfort zone. I’ve already taken a small practice step and got a client in my local market first. The experience with this client will help me with the foreign ones.
I will fix my health.
I will create a secondary source of income.
I will double my income.
I will pay an everyday attention to my website.
I will be more organized and self-disciplined.
Anna,
I wonder if your affirmations could be stronger if you spoke as if:
ex. I have excellent health.
I have two sources of income.
My income is $xxx,000 annually.
I give my website attention daily.
I am organized and self disciplined.
Harv, is there anyway you could make the monthly lesson as a video? I love your “tell it like it is” style and hearing your voice say this would be so much more motivating!
Thanks! Happy New Year…Hello 2013…It is going to be AMAZING 🙂
My goal this year is to become a full-time business owner. To achieve this I will expand my online dating business by working 15 hours a week on the business and add two new online dating websites.
I am walking confidently in the direction of my dream of building the Lamp House Centre for the Performing Arts in Canmore, Alberta. It will require the ability or the saleability, accountability, or the supportability of a number of individuals that will work together as a team to realize a singular goal shared by many. For that, they will share in all the rewards monetary and otherwise. Care to join me on my rocketship?
I will spend 10 hours per week on my real estate business and 10 hours per week on my poker game. I will use both of these revenue producing vehicles to create my ability to leave my employer this year
I’ve just uploaded my first book to Amazon Kindle with many more intended (and draft manuscripts in process). Books, if managed correctly, can provide continuous passive income.
These are part of my overall business strategy for my coaching, mentoring and training business.
Watch out 2013 here I come!!!
Well done, Steve!
I have several goals to work on in increments. But one of the ones I want to work on first so that I give myself more time is to weed out time wasters starting with emails that I never completely read but continue to stare me in the face. And to keep only those that I truly want to read and learn from. That means, first read, keep or delete. No second times through…
I am a military man and have a limited time for myself ,currently i ‘m keeping peace in the middle east .However ,i’ve set aside a portion of my home monthly salary as a provident fund towards my retirement. I’ve tried my best to establish a busness but due to time constrain i always find it difficult.
I have signed up for a book writing two day workshop as I want to have a series of mini books published starting this year
In short, we need to develop a right habit. That’s why Stephen Covey’s book – The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is very important to read.
I will make some changes on my advertising, also I will spend more time reading to keep me motivated, get new ideas, as you mentioned on the reading, I think I was at rest and my body wanted to be at rest most of the day. I mean, I wasn’t producing nothing new for my business. It’s time to start and keep moving….
Hi Harv,
that’s the thing. So easy and so true. Let’s GO for it.
* Trust in God
* Be a more patient and loving man
* Get in FULL contact with EVERY prospect. They NEED me.
* Concentrate on money-generating activities
* Focus to solve ONE customer-problem per time.
* Choose the 80% successes that I can achieve in 20% of the time
* Keep ALL aspects of my business and life going in parallel – not perfect – great is enough 😉
* Get out of the Cyberspace and talk with real people
* Start to let more other people be part of my success
I would happy to hear your thoughts an comments 🙂
Markus from Germany (now living in Mallorca 😉
I will spend
* half hour to exercise every morning
* 1 hour a day to streamline processes and standardise my business in accounting and tax
* 1 hour a day on growing my leads
* half hour to meditate every night
Happy New year! I will try to be consistent this year! I really believe 2013 will be a great year!
words that strengthen the soul. sometimes one wants to leave everything there … but we have an inner strength that propels us …. aver … beyond what is already planned in our thoughts …. our goals and far we want to go … nice blog
I have already committed to working at my smaller goals and then act on them. I have to admit that the hardest part for me is to start, but when I do, I just keep going! Thanks Harv!
Great article Harv!
I will be working on my health and setting up my multiple income streams so i can quit my job and make more money than last year. I am also committed to taking some type of extra learning courses every 4 months , so i am constantly learning and growing.
I am a MONEY MAGNET!
Peter
I like to create a active and passive income in this month. Help me.
I will follow-up with 5 people everyday to better my relationships with them.
everything I’ve done until now has allowed me to live, to meet the needs of my children. I now I want to build a passive income $ 10,000 per month in order to enjoy life and to benefit my family.
thank you Harv…. make me wht i m today……….
I will become a master in realistic planning and taking action on the tasks. I found my self the last years dreaming big, but not getting a lot done because I already knew that it was not possible. Now I changed my way of planning.
1. Planning on a monthly, weekly and daily basis on paper.
2. Planning realistic with enough breaks and extra time so I’m sure that I get the things done
3. More balance in computer work, meeting people, sport and breaks.
4. Creating momentum by focussing on timing instead of time
Thanks for the tips Harv, your blog really helps!

I have been contemplating starting a medical billing and reimbursement and practice management consulting business for one year. I have crossed over every excuse I could imagine. This year I am start writing the plan and taking those steps towards starting this business no more fears, no more excuses, and no more negatively captive thinking.
I will get up one hour early everyday whether I like it or not to read ten pages from a self improvement book, do my 10 minutes positive affirmation as well as 15 minutes exercise then enjoy a healthy breakfast before I get ready for work.
“If you want things in your life to change, you’ve got to change things in your life.”
That quote came from Kevin Trudeau from The Global Information Network, of which I’m a member. So I’ve asked myself, “What things have I changed, or am going to change, about my life in 2013 so I’ll get different, and hopefully better, results in 2013?” Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
1. I’ll be starting to do Qigong twice a month (energy work similar to Tai Chi)
2. I named a theme for my year (at the suggestion of my sales coach Eric Lofholm): 2013 is the Year of Outrageous Abundance!
3. My wife suggested as a birthday present that she’d buy me 3 sessions at the gym with a trainer. I refused at first, saying that I already knew how to work out and was pretty happy with what I was doing, but then I realized that I’ve been plateaued for almost a year with no change in either my weight or my waist. So while I haven’t told her yet to get me the lessons, I’m leaning very heavily (figuratively, not literally) in that direction. As Have Eker has said, the 4 most dangerous words in the English language are “I already know that!”
4. Shifting my focus to landing large training gigs while still taking on new coaching clients. In the past I’d say my income has been about 80/20 coaching to training, and this year I’m aiming for 50/50 or even 40/60. Which means I’m taking very new action steps that involve more cold and warm calling to HR departments and the VP of Sales at larger companies.
5. Building a passive income stream by enrolling people into the Global Information Network’s Affiliate/Membership Program. I’ve never worked a multi-level marketing business before so the learning curve is steep, but it’s very exciting, totally fits my value system, is easy to share, and can be extremely lucrative for the rest of my life…and my daughter’s life, and her kids’ lives (if and when she has some, which hopefully won’t be for a while!).
Well, I think that’s enough new stuff for now. After all, it is only the 2nd day of January, for crying out loud! So what are you changing in your life this year? Send me an email and let me know, and if you like my blog, please go to my website and say so! I’ve been told it helps my SEO and Google ranking, whatever the hell that means…

I need to make $ 25000 as passive income this year, I wanted to be a trainer for Cisco Technology,I’ll get myself in motion
For me, I need to pay less heed to the tendency to stay inertia. I shall set the daily goal and move myself towards that goal, irrespective whether I am in the mood of doing it or not.
This year I plan to complete my first book and get it published. While this is going on, continue my goal of creating a private practice as a mental health therapist and life coach.
Thanks Harv for all your help and inspiritation! Happy 2013
I accomplished every goal I set for 2012, except one (which eliminated itself as I discovered it was not ‘of priority’) — and these were huge, gargantuan-sized, multiple goals to set the foundation for the rest of my forseeable future. Amazing. And even accomplished great things, and received abundance, I hadn’t counted on : ) Yay. So, I totally am adhering, now, to this idea of consistency and momentum for 2013 — as, toward the end of 2012, that became the big challenge after the big pieces were in place..”the details” : ) I commit to re-organizing (updating) all the major, medium, minor steps to support these foundations for my business asap (not difficult, so I can begin implementing on Monday)..splitting up tasks in a humane way per week/month so they’re “doable” and designing a roadmap of success for this “new” phase. Where last year was “big efforts/time/personal energy to implement a handful of significant things,” 2013 will be using less time/energy/effort (i.e., being efficient and using leverage and smart choices) to accomplish a staggering amount of success in volume results..and, planning, organization, and leverage — with consistency and momentum — will make that possible. “Checked off lists,” and “personal net worth” numbers..as well as quantifiable and qualified results (benchmarks determined ahead of time) will not only make me happy..but will mean I’m enjoying and nailing the biggest year of implementation and successful results based on “momentum” in my life..Yay, 2013 : )
Take action and stay consistent! Go for it! I can do it! YES!!!
I will learn to say “NO” so I truly will only focus on activities that will keep my business on track this year.
I will work daily to improve my health , I have been neglecting it since long . I will exercise , do yoga and breathing exercise more frequently .
I will read more useful books like the T Harv Eker Books On wealth and self development.
I will find out secondary source of income .
I am study and find out more of the laws of metaphysics.
I will spend more time with my family and friends .
I will be generally more happy and positive this year
I didn’t set any resolutions until I read this blog. Now I have two: – take action
– be consistent.
I’ll apply them to my smaller goals. Thanks Harv.
Harv, I love your book. When ever I quote something out of your book, I say my friend Harv, they laugh at me, I am so pumped up, I’m going to read it again…..I would just like to know when will you be coming to South Africa. OMW I would love to have you here and attend some of your lessons you are offering only in the US, That is so not fair (hehehe) Please think of coming to SA. Regards
I’ll master English, have perfect health and have passive income 2000$ per month. 😀
I will include meditation and exercise not one or the other this means I must wake up at 5 am and get minimum 7 hours sleep so I can work at peak efficiency.
Thank you Harv!!
I have taken a new approach to my resolution making this year. Instead of making one resolution for the year, on that I may get bored of or talk myself out of doing or get distracted from, I’ve decided that every month I will eliminate one bad habit, or something that is no longer serving me in a positive way, and replace it with one good habit or something that will serve me in a positive way! I find it easier, I can’t procrastinate because I only have 30 days or so to achieve these goals, and at the end of the year, I will have 24 victories to celebrate!!
I will make 25 calls per day, deliver 25 flyers weather permitting and go to the gym.
The above are Monday thru Friday weekends are free.
I will replace my income this year with passive income. And build up my property portfolio. Take action and be consistent.
My plan 2013
1. Build up Forex account: $20 000
Forex trading = $2 000 passive income/month
2. Build up Option account $10 000
Option trading = $ 1 000 passive income/month
3. Class: 2 classes/month; 15 pax/each
I commit myself to do it!
Thank you for your remind and advise!!!!
Best wishes to all of you!!!
2013 I resolve to
1. Dedicate 1hr to bible study.
2. Plan for sports outing with my son.
3. create special days for a pizza and flower treat for my wife.
4. increase my attention at my sales and focus on my rentals.
5. be consistent on the above
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me too.
Im pursuing my goal and will do whatever it takes and continue to motivate myself by doing research to be a good networker..
1) I will attand Millionaire Mind Intensive so I can be on the same page as my wife.
2) I will spend 10-15 hours per month managing my finances
3) I will participate in at least five real estate transactions as either a purchaser or private lender
4) I will attain my ideal weight of 155 pounds thourhg healthy eating and a regular exercise plan.
5) I will partner with my oldest son (16 years old) on a real estate rehab project in 2013.
Thank you Harv! You’re indeed a source of blessing. I will stop procrastinating and put to practise those beautiful things I’ve learnt from you. By the way, I have my jars.. and I’ve started practising the jar system
After attending MMI I’ve been reading my affirmations day and night and signed up for IBD which motivated me to sell my dead losing stock which I’ve been holding on to for 7 months and buy 2 stocks which have made me more money in 1 week then I made in the last 7 months. My money makes me more and more money. I chose to get paid based on my results…Thanks Harv for helping me focus on my millionaire mind
I went to the Millionaire Mind Intensive in Kuala Lumpur last December followed by the Master Your Mind in Singapore. I have set that 2013 is going to be an awesome year, simply because I say so. And I will work on the daily Millionaire Mind exercises to ensure that I keep my momentum.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, Harv!
I always enjoy reading your materials and attending your seminars.
You are so SIMPLE and yet SO DEEP!
I am very grateful to have come in touch with your enlightening information and materials.
Michel,
Thank you for the kind words. I truly appreciate it.
Keep taking steps, any steps.
Cut the “T” off can’t
Allow opportunities to come to me. Don’t be so focused on my way or no way.
When I’m in the ‘resistance’ phase I take note of whether to move forward and how it feels. Then take note of not doing it and how it feels. If it feels great NOT doing it… I know I HAVE to do it!
let it roll baby, roll… all night long 🙂
Getting back into the gym in 2013!
sometimes I lose focus on my goals and then open my mail and see a newsletter from Harv.I’m grateful for people like you and how you strive to see the best in others. My goal 2013 is to save enough money by May and start a Film edu-tainment website where I inspire our country’s film industry to better itself as well as make income by marketing movies, events, and film related merchandise.I also plan to gather enough funds to produce a Kenyan tv show based on our country’s film industry

I have a website for free personal coaching.
I agree the getting started is the hardest part in many efforts. It’s especially difficult to get started when you don’t have a partner or any support. For many it’s not until the pain of inaction becomes greater than the pain of action that action can occur. We have to hit bottom before we can get started taking action. It’s more comfortable to do nothing since that involves less effort and risk. Taking action implies risk of failure. What if you take the wrong action? Then you’ll look like a fool. The safest thing to do is to do nothing until that is no longer an option. Of course this doesn’t work. For example if we don’t replace the roof before it fails, it will be more expensive to repair the damage. Thus we have to realize the risk of inaction, feel the fear of not acting, and use that as our motivating force. In other words we need to have two possibilities in our mind, one of not taking and one of taking action, and focus our attention on achieving the most positive outcome.
Hi Jack, I have been there, and its really lonely, so pull yourself together and make your life wonderful. No one is going to change your life, no one is going to come and help you … Its only upto you to make your dreams and ensure they are achieved. You dont need a partner to dream, Just close your eyes and see yourself… You will have your dream.. I have found mine and I am going after it…
I will make Daily,Weekly,Monthly and yearly goal in 2013.
Every day I will use half an hour to gratitude. 1 hour for increase my knowledge like reading.
I will celebrate every goal accomplished, no matter how small.
In 2013 I must totally change my life style.
Thanks Mr T Harv Eker.
WE ARE MONEY MAGNET!!

Thankyou Harv, I have always been inspired by you, my this years resolutions are big, but as your rightly said to be focussed on them we need to split them up into smaller weekly goal,
So I will make weekly goals and daily ensure that my direction is right towards them

Dear Harv,
Why are you advising to set a low and incremental aim
Hi Hikmat,
I appreciate your question as I’m sure others may be thinking the same. There is no intention to ever set a “low” goal, but a challenge to make smaller, incremental goals to gain momentum and push you towards achieving your larger goals. If you set a large goal and never achieve it, then the only person you are hurting is yourself. Once you start achieving your smaller goals within your larger goals, then your chances of success are much higher. I hope this answers your question and best of luck to you in 2013!
Continue assim!
Abraço.
G’day Harv,
I totally hear what you’re saying. The incremental goal is definitely the way to go. I’m finding now that if I do 2 things (set a standard of operation and set a daily goal) that I can achieve much more than previously. The standard is something like “I will not work through lunch, no matter what” and the goal might be “write a blog post”. I have started doing this since Jan 1 and have created a new website from scratch (decrepitman.com) and have my first post up which includes a video. Doesn’t sound like much but it’s a massive achievement for me compared to the past. I create time for me and time for work, all in incremental steps. I’m getting things done for once.
The action I am taking is checking my beliefs on a regular basis. That means daily for now. Our little egos will let us work our hearts out at nonproductive tasks if we don’t step in and take charge. Really, it’s retake charge. The ego is rightly a servant, not the boss.
Hi Harv,
Two years ago I went to the MMI in Amsterdam, and it has been a live changing experience, both personally as financially. At that point I was rather broke after divorce. The things I learned at the MMI and from the Wealth Conditioning Program helped me to triple my income within a year time.
Last year I was able to create my first passive income stream (I wrote a study book, based on royalties, and it is already doing well!).
This year I want to create a seccond passive income stream with MLM. And I want to learn about the stock market, and spend (wisely) a part of my FFA at it. I never tried it before because I feared I would not be able to learn it. Now it’s time to change this old blueprint-thinking.
I’ve also started all over again with the Wealth Conditioning Program (I stopped after the first year), because I belief it will bring me new insights.
Thank you for the inspiration and (online) support!
Greetings:
I am determined each day to follow thru on projects started but never finished as in the past I’ve jumped around. You know, you buy some internet program out there hoping it is going to make you money online but, you get bogged downed with the details because you don’t know how to complete the assignments and you get frustrated and quit and then move on and buy something else and you repeat the process all over again while you know you shouldn’t but you rationalize it and make excuses why you did it so you can feel better.
I am not going to repeat that pattern this year (2013), because I am more discipline. I mean, how much more of a fool you want to be right?
Thank you Harv for continuing to email for “FREE” such inspiring messages that finally got thru to me.
Pearl
“Don’t forget to celebrate every goal”. I have started celebrating and during those moments I feel on top of the world.

Managed to start gym.No pain no gain
Hello Harv,
Thanks for all. Since 30 years, I’m going to hit the ceiling of my best results with everyone, any day, anytime, anywhere… So in 2 0 1 3 … I continue to hit and give my best… Have a nice time. All my best regards.
Hi Harv, I have set KPIs on my goals on regular intervals to keep me measuring on my results. As the saying goes, what you measure, you manage. I have also written an article on my website to assist people to be more successful in their new year’s resolution ! It’s so true so many people continue to make the same resolution year after year and do not realise what is their problem!!! Thanks for sharing this artcile !

My 2013 goal is to become financial independent (who don’t want that?) and keep my mind & body healthy. Life’s short, don’t waste it. The key is to spend it wisely, gratefully, and happily. For me, I choose to spend it alone.
