Why Chaos In Your Life Is Essential To True Growth And Ultimate Success

I think more than a few of us have experienced bits of Murphy’s Law…that as things start to improve in your life, chaos and craziness starts to occur, yes?
Most people will have that go through.
Why is that? What’s happening?
Well, it comes down to everything being energy.
As you’re changing and improving your life you are moving from an old habit of energy at one level of vibration into a completely new and different level of vibration.
It’s a different looking energy.
There’s a resonance between those two energies, and the separation between the new and the old, the space in-between, is unusual and often uncomfortable.
And you’re not just going to drop the old energy overnight. It doesn’t happen that way. It doesn’t even happen in a week or a month. The old energy patterns are still there, and it’s easy to get back to them.
It’s perfectly normal. You’ve shaken things up. But even more fundamental than that: if you have no chaos in your life, you might as well be dead. You’re flat lining. You’re so freaking normal and boring that you’re not growing.
If you have no chaos in your life, you are not growing because growth means chaos.
About once a month I have this thought that goes in my head. The thought is, “Take a deep breath, Harv, because it’s coming.” I’m not installing anything negative, but I know chaos is coming.
Every single time I start the Wizard pattern, stuff comes up and says, “Really? You think you’re a Wizard? Watch this, and see how good you are now, buddy.” It’s like a test, and I know it’s coming.
I used to be pissed off about it. I used to stay away from trying to live in a Wizard mentality because I didn’t want it to happen, but now I say, “It’s just proof that I’m growing.”
The test says, “If you think you’re a good hitter in baseball, I’m going to stop throwing you underhand lobs and I’m going to start throwing you overhand pitches. Then I’m going to start throwing faster and faster, and maybe one day you’ll get into the big leagues.”
Nobody’s telling you that you have to get rich. Nobody’s telling you that you have to be super happy. Nobody’s telling you that you have to be the best person. Nobody is saying that—only you. Do you want it? Then guess what: Chaos comes with it.
Before order comes chaos. Every time you are reordering, you will go through the process called chaos. Chaos is good. Confusion is part of chaos. You have shaken up the energy. Keep going, keep doing it, and do not give up. Keep shaking it up.
Then what’s going to happen? You’re going to come to a new resonance, a new energy. You’re going to get to a new order. Good for you, but then guess what’s going to happen? You get stuck there unless you go for something bigger, better, higher and faster. Then what? Chaos!
You’ve got to get this mantra into your bones: I love chaos.
That’s the Wizard’s principle. “I am comfortable with chaos, ambiguity and the unknown.”
You see, it’s just your little monkey mind that wants to know every single thing, how it’s going to turn out, and have everything in order and in control. It’s just fear, but it’s okay. It’s a state of your mind. You can change that.
Say, “Thank you for sharing. This is a good thing. Just chill out and everything will be fine. Let’s keep going.” That’s it. Some crazy shit may happen to you, but take a nice, deep breath and keep going because at one point in time you’re going to get to a new place.
When you get to that new place, you’re still going to be rough around the edges, but you’re going to be at a Level 8 instead of a Level 5. That’s a different game. Keep playing.
We welcome you to share your stories of order out of chaos, growth and change from stagnation and boredom. You never know how your experiences can have a remarkable impact on others. We want to hear from you!

Hi, awesome text. This is a completely true, you can´t reach the next level without the chaos because it´s a change. Sometimes we have to listen to people who have this external perspective. I understood the chaos in this way like you pointed out because of this text. BTW, I´m reading your book and it´s blowing my mind (for good… haha).
Ha! Thank you Harv! As I got your email, I’m sitting surrounded by piles of paper trying to sort out the first accounts for my new business. I know it will get easier once I’ve caught up, so the chaos is worth it, but it does feel very tough! Thanks for keeping me on track!
Well I get that – Im teaching, selling the concept of feng shui which people think means a clean and tidy house; I kind of agree-chaos can be creative and when you are making changes there is some kind of disorder because its about letting go of the old patterns; establish new ones that serve you better. Its like a healing crisis-sometimes things get worse before they get better. However, it is good to have a place to retreat to aswell where there is some calm; try http://www.wealthyspaces.com when its launched next week. There is a geometric shape in all chaos; a new order is established in one’s self – as long as we dont establish a world new order that serves an elite.
LOL! I Wouldn’t recognize or even appreciate my life if it didn’t contain some of what you call chaos. I despise boredom and while not looking for an “ultimate thrill” I seek opportunities that will stretch me and what I believe I am capable of doing/achieving. My belief is that life is about growth…not sitting on the sidelines. So when I am pursuing a job or in one, I try hard to give 102%. What I have learned is that it keeps me young and flexible and at 63, that is a good thing!
Thank you Harv. I love reading Million Dollar Life Lessons. I recently hired a business coach to help me start my own business. Since hiring him, I feel like my life is complete chaos. My routine has changed, I can’t barely keep up as my coach is challenging me and moving me ahead. I’m so uncomfortable that sometimes I have to stop, take a deep breath and reassure myself that all is well. The last time I felt this way was ten years ago when I was worked with a coach from Peak Potentials to help me get out of Debt. I’m glad to know that the Chaos I’m experiencing is a part of my growth. Again thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. Your Amazing!
Great – as always, Harv – thank you!
Dear Harv, You are right on target. What I have learned from chaos is that coming from an addictive family system I lived in chaos what I had to learn was how to live with it and manage living in chaos with things like meditation, prayer, journaling, the arts, exercise while I was in the middle of the chaos. You are right IT never stops.
thanks

Thanks for posting this, Harv. It comes at a good time for me. Whenever chaos strikes, I go into writing mode. I just published my second book 🙂
When I’m feeling that chaos I think of the caterpillar having to totally breakdown in the chrysalis in order to emerge as an amazing butterfly. Wondering what my wings will look like here in England. Thanks as always for your perspective.
i like it. have a good day to you
Harv, you normally make great posts, but you nailed it this time!!! So bloody good I really have to thank you for this.
Chaos is within us all and we all fear it, but we must act despite it. Once I learnt that things started to get better, and I know it’s still a long way to go I now accept the messy and crazy parts of it.
I had a pretty chaotic day yesterday but I still got stuff done and I gained a lot of inspiration. Also, I figured out some actions that I must do.
Hi Harv. I couldn’t agree with you more. If you’re comfortable in life – you might as well be dead. I started my first business at age of 24, leaving a top graduate position an an M&A position in investment banking. Since then, I have liquidated 4 businesses, had a divorce to the lady I loved truly, been abused mentally for 12 years and have had two family members sexually abused over th same period. Ask me what I’m doing now at 30? I’ve set up a solar power business in Africa! With my own factory and innovations employing ten staff. Chaos – it’s the only thing that keeps me breathing. Your book and advice have helped me understand the blockage to becoming a millionaire… Now nothing can stop me!
This is Brilliant, and makes so much sense. Thank you for this article!!
Women are the most beautiful of Gods creation. Like your hair color and style!
Thank you very much, Harv. I found it very interesting to read and I think it represents a part of our mind we neither like or expect. Sure, we want the results, but we always seem to want to know how things will be before we make our first step. It gives clarity to know that chaos IS a part of growth – and ironically it also gives a degree of certainty as we step up: there is gonna be chaos! But also growth!
Thankyou for this explanation! I know I am on the right path because chaos is happening to me right now as I embrace growing into the best version of me.
i want to try… but my english is not the best
Hey man
the perfect insight at the perfect time 😉

OH.MY.GOD. Harv you just literally gave me life changing info!! I ALWAYS get frustrated because chaos DOES always hit right after I start making changes! And yes I do get really mad too! Disappointed, discouraged, you name it! Wow, wow, wow!! Can’t thank you enough!!
Hi, Thank you for this insight, but I still pray for the day that if its necessary to have in our growth processes, it should be minumum.
The right lesson at the right time, just in the middle of chaos, now i can say “I am comfortable with chaos, ambiguity and the unknown”
Thanks Harv
Thank you so much!! I’ve been asking myself what is happening to me because I was feeling too tired and was about to give up and throw up all my efforts until now. I found the perfect answer in this text!!! Thank you!! I loved it! I won’t give up.
Wow..the chaos thing is powerful..I just moved in with my daughter and her family and went back to school at age 55. I am overwhelmed in a good way ..there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day! I never thought about it as a learning tool..thanks so much for your email. It was timely and provocative.
Wow, the timing of this article couldn’t be more perfect. Harv, you truly are a Wizard!
This morning, as I was working on my new illustration portfolio, I was experiencing a lot of chaos. I’ve never built a portfolio like this before, never quite this focused and deliberate, and it’s been a good “pain”. The voice(s), namely my super-ego, were trying their best to cast extreme doubt on what I was doing, a test of my resolve to follow through on my promises to myself. It got pretty intense but I just kept pushing through. One thing helps me the most is to simply tell my super-ego (showing up in a variety of masks and voices) to, pardon my language, “FUCK OFF!”. This approach works splendidly, but I must make sure that the command is a “go away” response and not a counter-attack, for example; otherwise I find myself getting entangled with the voices and it totally throws me off my game.
So yeah, having experienced that this morning and then reading this article right afterwards is PERFECT timing. Again, you truly are a Wizard Harv!
Many blessings!
Thanks Harv, that’s exactly what I needed to hear as it’s what’s going on for me right now! The future’s awesome, but the old keeps trying to pull me back. So I guess the message is: hang on tight, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!
Wow, I love it, what it’s say, this book, totally true, I’m learning and I will getting more and more, thank you t hard Eker,
Your are right, now I am starting a chaos period because my finances are not ok. In this month I am not ending with my bills, so it shaked me and made me take some actions: to rent my appartment, to apply a job in an other country. I am a little tired not to be ok with my cash flow, I am changing energies and I know that. I am a light worker and ask for peace to be in peace
Thanks Harv and the Chaos is happening with abundance, and with that abundance comes victory…I can’t wait. ……?
I get excited because something even better is coming, the adventure continues!
Useful and well written article. Might want to define Wizard concepts for the reader. This came out of left field for me as I have not ready anything about Harv’s Wizard theory, concepts etc. Thanks….
Good insight, there is order even in chaos. Be at peace in it, and you will survice and thrive coming out the other side of it!
Perfect Timing!
You’re so right, I noticed that couple years ago when I had to re-evaluate a relationship and then boom the conflict came. The chaos was big!! Yet along with it such insight and seeing with clarity what was really going on. Yet a growth spurt came from this I spoke my truth stood my ground and would not get drawn back in. I’ve have gained more confidence. I started asking people ” haven’t you ever notice you tend to grow after great conflicts?” Have had minor ones and results the same. Thanks
Perfect timing! We are going through Extreme Nesting with a baby due in about a month. Our house is full of chaos! Things in weird places, tradesmen here early every morning, our office in the kitchen. But it is great! I can see the house of my dreams coming out of the dust.
Often Chaos isn’t as physical as this, so it is a wonderful visual reminder of the benefits of chaos. Thanks Harv!
Thank you Harv , I ll keep that
Danke für den tollen Artikel! Bei mir ist ein Umzug der nächste Schritt zur Zielerreichung, geräumig und mit großem Garten. War auch die Ressonanz.
Chaos allows me to practice stepping out of my comfort zone and truely live the life of my dreams.
Thank you so very much. I read the article at a time when I really needed the information. I will continue to push forward.
A couple of hundred years ago Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote (in the novel Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre if I remember rightly): “All transitions are crises.” (“Alle Übergänge sind Krisen”).
And another German writer, Gottfried Benn” defined chaos as “die formfordende Gewalt des Nichts” – roughly translated, “the form-demanding force of nothingness”.
They tie in nicely with how you have described it here Harv.
You know, I had to laugh when I read this, because it made me understand why 2014 happened the way it did to me. I was stuck at a dead end job, the love of my life had to walk away from me (I didn’t get dumped, we simply had to part ways for reasons I can’t get into here), and my dead end job was becoming increasingly dead end. So, at a moment of what I thought back then was weakness, but now see as actually a moment of coming to a point where I knew I HAD to change my life, I dropped everything and decided to move in a totally new direction. Change everything, absolutely everything. I left my job despite threats of “you’ll never find a job if you’re not already employed” and “the job market is terrible, you should stay with what you have and be happy you have it!” And for three months of unemployment and total uncertainty, I kept going. Kept moving forward and did not look back. I can’t tell you how many job interviews I’ve gone on, how many times I rolled out of bed at 5 am on bleak winter mornings to go run a 5k in the cold and dark, simply to keep myself believing that I have the discipline, tenacity and resolve to have and live the life I want. It was a way of keeping a sense of daily routine, which led to a sense of purpose and, ultimately, sanity for me, until one sunny day in January 2015, I got an email informing me that I got the job I really, REALLY wanted. It’s a job I never thought I’d end up in and didn’t even know i wanted until my third follow-up interview. I am making 50% more than I was at my old, dead end job, I’ve only been there 9 months, and currently have an opportunity to get a huge, huge raise.
I just want to share this in case someone out there, who is currently in a dark, scary and hopeless place, is reading this. I just want to tell you not to give up. Don’t give up and hang in there. Have faith in yourself and keep pushing ahead. Have faith in the universe, and know, just KNOW that miracles occur when you least expect them. I never believe this until this year. Oh and I should add that on a beautiful, sunny Saturday two weeks ago, I randomly checked my email, and what was the first thing I saw? An email from the love of my life. I read it, sad down, and cried like a child. From happiness, from relief, and from sheer awe at how mysteriously and magnificently the universe works and guides us.
I meditate every day! This help me to be positive at least. The rest, the greatest part came after!
Thank you Harv, this is a critical point for me. I used to be a harmony seeker, so the thought of chaos would have scared me right off.
We have been sucked in by the “happily ever after’ conspiracy which says that everything will be smooth sailing and there will be no trials an tribulations.
I would rather know there will be and that every time I encounter them it is about growing, not suffering.
Oh: Harv, Indeed this type of chaos is essential. I have been in this state not long and has to change a lot of things in my life. I chose the thoughts I entertained, my associates and my entire environment. I had to make new decisions it was very chaotic all around me. It was like a whirl wind attack. Things are becoming calm, with fresh energy accompanied by great achievements. Thank you so much.
I recently have been making some huge changes in my life, and chaos has ensued. This month has been the most chaotic period in my life. First, I quit my job because I knew there was something more for me out there. I also am moving into a nicer part of town, my car broke down, my boss continues to try to grind everything she can out of me at the lowest cost, I broke up with a girl I was about to date and I was walking down the street randomly and a wood chip became stuck in my eye and I had to go to the doctor, and pretty much all of my money went to fix my car. To add, after my car was initially fixed I had to take it back two times. All while this is going on I am making leaps and my life and definitely making strides to improve my life, but Harv Eker is definitely telling the truth when he says that when your life is going up, chaos follows. I used to despise chaos but I get it will become commonplace because I want to be successful. So, chaos is not so bad after all.
Thank you. I appreciate you sharing your practical knowledge and insights, they enable me to take action.
I Love This.Thank you Harv !
