File Under ‘Mixed Messages’
In tough times like these, people are doing more than just making economic and lifestyle adjustments that aren’t always chosen or even wanted. People just do what they have to do.
With these outward changes, though, I believe it’s more important than ever to reexamine our attitudes and beliefs. For those who have been in the Millionaire Mind community for some time, you’re familiar with how blueprint impacts our mental, emotional lives, and economic lives.
We all have our own mental ‘File Box.’ It labels and stores information, yes? Certain ways of thinking and belief systems? The way you think can only come from the information in those files. If it’s not in the file box, you don’t think it.
Unfortunately most of us have file folders that have mixed messages in it. Mixed messages create mixed results. So if you believe that you don’t have the experience to start your own business even though you want to, you’ll act accordingly and never have the experience of starting your own business. If you don’t believe that you have enough money to manage, you won’t manage your money, which means you’ll never have enough money to manage.
When you don’t periodically challenge your own beliefs, it’s kind of like driving with your foot on the gas pedal and on the brake at the same time. We’ve got mixed messages going out to the universe and to ourselves. We believe we want to get to where we say we want to go, yet some of our other beliefs hold us back.
We’ve got to revise some of those files or add some new ones so we can make new choices that seem perfectly logical and sensible toward what we want; files that support happiness and success versus those that don’t. We want to delete those files or at least neutralize them.
Whether you are naturally pessimistic or just facing uncertainty due to the current economic climate, develop the skill of challenging your negative, unconscious beliefs. However, instead of looking only at your beliefs, first look at your results and your ways of being! Look at your life and that will tell you what you MUST believe for those result to be there.
Describe your current life situation in the financial and work arena. Do you work for others, yourself, or not at all? Do you earn a lot of money, a little money, or a moderate amount of money? Where do you put your money if you have some? Are you a saver or a spender? Are you a risk taker or not? Do you love what you do or not?
Regardless of what you find, the truth is our lives are the way they are not just from circumstances we can’t control, but also because of that one area we can control though we don’t always take the time to do so: our belief system. We always act or not act in accordance with our beliefs. We co-share the results of this with the universe. Control what you can, and let the rest take care of itself.
Now it’s your turn. What are some of the things you’ve discovered about your belief system that may have surprised you? How long have you held on to these beliefs? How are you actively editing or deleting old, unsupportive beliefs? We want to hear from you!

I know I struggle with seeing how my beliefs affect the way I act. This is why I have surrounded myself with people that are willing to call me out if they think my beliefs are limiting me. To ensure I keep these people around I meet with a mastermind group weekly and we help guide each other to grow. I recommend you do the same.

How can I help
This post is right up my alley, Harv. I specialize in helping people identify and transform their unconscious beliefs. Most people can figure out their conscious limiting beliefs because they're readily accessible. It's the unconscious beliefs that can really trip you up because you're not even aware of them. Think of the conscious beliefs as being the tip of the iceberg. And the unconscious beliefs are the other 90% lurking below the surface that you can't see. People are always amazed to discover what's stored in their unconscious — and relieved to finally identify them and transform all of these outdated limiting beliefs.
The things i've learn about the beliefs i have been taught are outdated. I now learned I should have educated myself faster with the technology that is available to grow. Thank you for knowledge tuneup!!!!
Thoughts become things so I only think of what I want to happen and pretend and feel that it is already here. I have “afformations” (Noah St. John) playing in the background on my MP3 while I work. I have “afformations” taped on the outside of my shower door so I read them and say them out loud while I shower. I avoid saying or thinking anything that is negative or represents what I don't want. If a negative thought tries to enter–I banish it by being aware of it and then reframing it into a positive thought. If someone makes a negative thought, I notice it and I rethink their statement in a positive frame. I look for the good in EVERYTHING!
Hey Harv,
you are totally right – everything start with our beliefs. And if we don't believe in our success no “positive thinking” will help.
Thanks for the great post! 🙂

Great metaphor, thanks for the encouragement to look inward for congruent outer world results. A fine way to start the day.
“So if you believe that you don’t have the experience to start your own business even though you want to, you’ll act accordingly and never have the experience of starting your own business” – you hit me in the gut here, Harv. In fact after almost 20 years of working for others, I've just started my own biz. But not having enuff experience in doing biz and not having enuff guts is a put off.
I delete old beliefs with action. Sometimes an action in the opposite direction of the old belief – like Francis Ford Coppola says: “To keep going in a crisis, do a 180 degree turn. Turn the situation halfway around. Don't look for the secure solution. Don't pull back from the passion. Turn it on full force.”
What we think is what we get. There's no question about that. If you're reading this and haven't participated in a Millionaire Mind Intensive, I strongly suggest that you do so. It truly does change people at the cellular level (as in forever) and you can then start manifesting the life you envision for yourself and family.
Me too!!!
These are my mixed messages and I know I can't do it alone Harv. Pray for me and all those who are steered by subconscious beliefs of lack xxxx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
Having a belief is a thinking process prevents or encourages an action. Changing a belief is not a thinking process, but an action you take. Maybe seeing someone acting in a way a belief of yours would not allow, but surprisingly beeing very successful. Challenging that very belief by acting despite of it, taking the opportunity to experience a success, is the first step of growing by replacing an old belief with a better one.
Hello Mr. Eker,
Yes, believing in an area that never had been developed before is challenging. The area is finance. As you said, if it is not there to think you won't think it. Financial Intelligence just was not there and thus, I had nothing to draw from. Now, the mindset has changed even though implementation is difficult. The Rich Dad Poor Dad books and training has been enormous. The feeling of fear in investing and risk are diminishing as knowledge increases. Now, it is on to Financial IQ: Making more money – Choosing the route.
Chuck Goetschel tells me you are in the Personal Passion Formula Training as well. Look forward to your training inside. I am currently helping to promote the launch. Part of my way to increasing financial intelligence #1. Then on to animation studio, next!

Harv,
The image of the giant file drawers seems like an appropriate one. I recently cleaned out my office (long overdue) and found all kinds of papers, projects, and notes that are no longer supportive of the work that I do. They were just taking up valuable storage space.
Imagine how many old beliefs we have filling up valuable real estate in our brains. Like you stress in your book, many of them are a product of conditioning and simply do not serve us well anymore.
For a few more thoughts about deleting old thoughts and patterns and replacing them with more helpful ones, check out my website at http://www.pocketchangebook.com. Thanks for your continued inspiration, Harv.
You hit the nail on the head by saying if we look at our results, THAT will shine the spotlight on what our beliefs MUST be. It's so simple.
Thanks for always putting out great content, Harv. I'm going to repost it right now.
The simplest of learnings come from the most unexpected of sources. I learnt something so deep from my 4 yr old boy, who is very good at making amazing stuff with Lego and he just loves it passionately. One day I curiously asked him how he comes up with such great designs and to my surprise he 'explained' the whole process (while giving me his full attention as if he was the adult here) as: “Well, Dad… I just become quiet and wait for an idea to come to my brain.. and then in some time a picture comes in my brain from somewhere .. and then I just take the Lego pieces and build it.” I was shocked and in a flash of an instant I realized about my biggest weakness.. over analyzing instead of just trusting and most importantly DOING IT as if it were the ONLY choice and that I couldn't fail. Since attending the MMI in Melbourne last year I am so much more aware of that attitude of mine that makes me stop the flow to 'check and ensure that all is going as is should'. Thanks, Harv.
*sigh* I “think” that I am actively deleting old beliefs because I have overcome homelessness (built my home), Ged to earning a Master's, a 2nd marriage and LIFE. Yet, my challenge IS making good money in a good job and starting businesses that I want to do yet falling short of becoming excellent at anything I do. I am falling short with focusing and following through. I need to examine my subconscious thinking, thank you.
Harv, so funny you posted this now. I just took the MMI again and when we did the exercise around beliefs about money, I realized all of the nonsupportive beliefs I had going into my first MMI are gone! (Warrior Camp must have knocked them out of me!)
I know exactly what are you talking about. We act based on our beliefs.
I know so many people that want to improve their lives, but I can tell that they don't believe they can do it.
