The Secrets to Believe and Succeed
Sometimes it’s easy to tell when someone isn’t certain of something or maybe harmlessly fibbing when you ask them a question and they give you an answer you don’t believe. Not that it’s always a big deal—like asking someone “Are you sure,” and they answer, “Yeah,” kind of like they’re asking a question, not stating a truth.
Try that in business or pitching yourself or your product or in fact whatever! For frick sake if you don’t believe in yourself, why should anybody else? This can become another one of those “Duh, Harv” moments. “Of course you have to believe in what you’re doing.” But is that what most people really live, do and sincerely … believe?
After all, believing means having confidence in the truth or absolute reliability of something without being able to absolutely prove that you’re right. There’s always that chance that you’re dead wrong. And that’s what holds so many people back, often without them realizing it. Fear of being wrong is insidious, undermining, and can become a success killer.
The most important thing about your business—your vehicle—is you have to freaking believe in it so much you would stand and shout it from the top of the roof to everybody, every minute of every day. If you can’t do that, you don’t believe in what you do enough.
When you find something that you really believe in and get it into your subconscious, there’s no problem in telling people what you do, or the value you’re offering. Preparation, education (which implies knowing that what you believe in can always be improved), execution—these are the sledgehammers that break through those inner obstacles, the roots that block us.
Sometimes, though, those roots can go very deep. This goes back to blueprint. Or a bad experience onhealthy.net/product/celebrex/ with belief, in one way or another, somehow internalized. If you can’t get past taking a shot in the dark without absolute certainty that you’re going to hit your target, what else do you think you can’t get past in life? Try everything! Anything! You stay in that comfort zone and even a little step outside becomes uncomfortable.
But guess what? Making a million dollars is not so comfortable! It’s like stretching muscles that you didn’t even know you had. It’s gonna feel tense at first, or maybe for a while, but the more you exercise your success muscles, the more successful you’ll be.
Belief and faith go hand-in-hand, and they are the foundation of success as much as energy is the basic unit of everything that ever existed. The idea of faith—as in “higher power”—is uncomfortable for some, but the same rules apply. Faith is simply doing and being from a place of not knowing what the outcome will be, but doing it anyway and accepting the result, whatever it may be.
But we won’t even get there without the basic unit of inner strength—belief in ourselves, in what we’re doing, in what we’re creating, in what we’re becoming. The science to get there is learnable. The spiritual aspect is something we have to continuously nurture.
We’ve been knee-deep in the nuts and bolts of business over these last few blogs. Now it’s time to open up the forum to your thoughts on belief, faith and success, and look for more spiritual lessons and thoughts next week.
But before we go there, it’s your turn to tell me what you think. What tips or strategies do you use to breakthrough your inner obstacles? Others can learn from your methods, so share below!

Wow, Harv. This post is right up my alley. I use the Resonance Repatterning® process to break through my own inner obstacles. This is also my profession, helping others break through their inner obstacles. I work with people one-on-one over the phone and in groups by proxy (distance healing.)
I’ve had an amazing journey of personal transformation building my practice over the last 10 years. Working in the realm of energy and spirit, the results aren’t always immediately obvious. Sometimes it takes a few sessions before people feel the change. So when I first started out faith and belief in what I do were big factors. Over the years as I’ve witnessed so many people’s healing processes, it’s definitely gotten easier to have faith and believe.
I agree that the spiritual aspect is something that we need to continually nurture. And because life is a process we come up against our own inner obstacles every time we are ready to take a quantum leap forward. Sometimes inner resistance signals that you're on the verge of another break-through.
Awesome post (as always!) What tips or strategies do you use to breakthrough your inner obstacles? I use positive self talk and giving. I believe so much in my business that I'm preparing now to walk away from Corporate America 8/2011 to do it fulltime! I write down positive quotes and thoughts daily, I share as much as I can freely to help others and I choose my attitude when dealing with others. I also abide by the spiritual principles of God first, family second and then my passion. Seems like by focusing in the right order heeds a more positive outcome!

Belief is the one. What do you believe? Then what will you stand behind? Then, what actions will you take? Which may lead you right back to: What do you believe?
If you absolutely believe in something, it is so very transparent. In my own experience, when I really believe in a concept, or an idea or a target, I am unstoppable despite any obstacle and achieve my intended target or goal.
There are times though that despite all the “preparation, education (which implies knowing that what you believe in can always be improved) and execution”, these are not the “sledgehammer” that I'd wish to have. Something else must be at work. Something very deep within. I am still on my journey of discovery. Thérèse
I am a big believer in “go and do”. When I get an idea for my business I go and try it. Some times it is not right or sometimes I need to tweak it, or it is great. I let the market test my idea and I learn from the whole process. Do not get too bogged down in the fear just go and do something and you will learn from the experience.
How about this, consider a business as a series of experiments. These experiments will test your assumptions. It is ok to find your assumptions are wrong in experimenting, that is the point. So, don't start a business do an experiment.

How can I help?
Dear Harv,
Yes, you must believe in yourself before you will have the power to get others to believe in you. This power is in fact interacting and will grow as your confidence grow.
Thanks again for sharing all your wisdom Harv!! I use a lot of positive affirmations / declarations (which I actually learned first from YOU!) I like them cause you start to realize how easy it is to convince yourself of a “better thought” when you just repeat, repeat, repeat! I love doing affirmations so much that I created a whole series of video affirmations and many of them were inspired by you!
Here's to positive, empowering thoughts! 🙂

This post reminded me of a poem…
Climb a Tree and Holler
J. Dayton Bostrom
He who whispers down a well
about the goods he has to sell
will never make as many dollars
as he who climbs a tree and hollers.
Because no matter what we do, we're all in the MARKETING business. 🙂

Take your best shot, then surrender and observe the results. No fear. No hope. Just detachment. It's a great way to live!!
I have had it drilled in my head over the past 3 years that I had it all wrong. I used to think that I had to work hard to HAVE money so the I could DO the things I wanted to do, then I could BE the person I wanted to be. NOW, I know that by BEing the person I desire to be, and DOing the things I desire to do, I then and only then can HAVE the things I desire. When I realized that, then believing that I could earn a million dollars (although still far out of my comfort zone at the moment) has been much easier to fathom. I see that even just finally being the writer and actor I have always wanted to be has allowed me to push myself to publish my first picture book, but it will be bigger than me, it will fund raise for children with cancer so now that I am being that person and doing those things, I am happy and one day I will have those other things. I believe in myself and the difference I can make, so I know I am succeeding even as I write this. Thank you for all your guidance, every bit has a nugget that helps me along the way.

I'm making video games.
I was always asking me a question: this kind of game is what people are waiting for, and nobody is creating it, why? Because…. “nobody is creating it”, that's so simple. There is no “magical reason”, like when you're in a supermarket and a cashdrawer is empty and you don't know why… because everyone is thinking “ho it's not normal, there is nobody at these cashdrawer”.
I started to make many progresses when I understood something simple: I can be the guy able to do something first.
Thanks Harv.
It's easier to believe in your self if you make sure that you create a good reputation through being fair and ethical. If you treat others in a good way, and think highly of them, you will also develop your own self respect and self belief. then you know that what you are offering to others is good.
Hey Harv,
This is a great post! I am happy that you went in this direction with your latest post. You are very good at articulating the unseen things that hold people back from achieving success.
I actually just finished writing a post on what I learned from one of your books. I don't like leaving links in my comments, but I am logged in here with my Twitter account so it won't link you to my blog.
The review that I put together about some things that I have learned from Mr. Eker is here https://ryan-martin.net/inside-the-mind-of-the-millionaire/
Thanks for all of the education!

J'adore ce que vous avez dit, et meme l'image du petit garcon, deguise en hero.
Indeed I love what you said above, and I'm glad I read that. We always need to remind ourselves why we're scarifying and fighting to go that extra mile. That's the uncomfortable feeling, especially for those of us who have experienced extreme childhood. I believe in my art, in my songs, because I put my soul to them, i write them from the heart. I keep working on making myself better and better, because we all have room for growth. Inside, we're like that little child with big muscles, that's what I like on this imagery. I relate given how I used every single help book, and even created a supportive group around me to focus on only my dream, what makes me happy. It's a challenge, but I think if i can do it, then everyone else can do it. I'm someone who doesn't believe in impossible. I think everything is possible. If I came out alive to day from all i've been through, then the rest is a piece of cake. One day, you'll all know why? I encourage everyone to hold on to their dreams, their hearts, because that's very important to reach our goals. Nothing comes easily but with hard work, yes you can do it. One of my song is called I believe in you. That goes for all of us.
Hi Josh
Most of us go through the experimenting process but without being aware of it. Is it possible to support your argument with an example? This will define or give a hint about the experiment vs marketing process.
Thank you
Hi Liz
I love what you said. My question to you will be, how do you keep the positive energy, and avoid that disappointing feeling deep down, when people act careless, jealous or power? what are the mechanism that you develop to make a wall in between?
Thank you again for your thoughts
Hi Very powerful point on believing on what you do no matter what. Whatever it takes.
I am a Holistic Life Coach and the way I have my clients breakthrough their obstacles is by using the mirrors of life. Look at what the world is showing you, the people and circumstances of your life. They are you or what you are pushing against. When you can be honest with yourself on where you are, then you can take the steps to move past it. People keep telling themselves stories that they make up in there heads. When you can see the true mirrors are you then you can redirect your thoughts to where you want to be. When you start seeing the people in your life showing you something different then you know you are seeing it different.
The absolute first step is honesty with yourself. Then look at why you have that belief. The magic of what I do is once you see why and you understand it, you no longer need to judge it within yourself. Once you have self acceptance there is nothing you can't do or be or have because you always know your truth.
When you push against something it will become larger.
When you can see that they are showing you something, and be honest with yourself there will be nothing to build a wall for.
(See my post)
Good question, Marie. It takes a lot of practice and awareness.
I don't recommend making a wall because that keeps you in a defensive position. Try opening your heart to the person that is triggering you. Keep your heart open and the pain will pass right through. The problem with building a wall is that by the time you build the wall the pain is already there so you're just walling in your pain. And a wall doesn't distinguish what it keeps out, so it also keeps out joy.
Remember that people do what they do for all sorts of unconscious reasons. If they are jealous or doing a power play it's probably because they are afraid or feeling inadequate. That's their problem. You don't have to take it personally, it's not about you. It's about them.
What is about you is your response to their behavior. If you are being triggered then that’s an indication that deep down their behavior is activating your own feelings of fear and inadequacy. Take this as an opportunity to heal that within yourself. I’ve found that the Resonance Repatterning process really helps to deactivate your triggers. So, stuff that used to push your buttons just rolls off your back. Let me know if you'd like to schedule a phone session with me. I think you'll really enjoy it.
That's awesome Tina that you've set a date for yourself! You go girl! I know you'll reach your goal!
Good one, Will!
Marie,
I agree that most of us do go through this process without even thinking about it. This is more of a mindset than a process (though it can be used as a process). I tend to work with people that are afraid of getting started in business that this view gives them a safer way to think about starting a business.
I lean heavily on my Lean training so I stole this idea from it. It is essentially called the A3 process. An example would be:
the need-I needed to drive traffic to my site but I do not want to spend a lot of money. I also waned to find people I could build relationships with in relation to my business.
Where I am now-I have very little traffic to my site with no interaction
Where I want to be-greater traffic to my site and people that I can interact with
Actions to reach where I want to be-I decided to find people talking on the web that need advice I can share and engage them in conversation
Check-did my actions help me to reach the place I want to be? in my case it did. If it did not I had to change my actions and maybe my assumptions.
I hope that was not too convoluted.

I believe in W. Clement Stone's: Do it now. This combined with Buckminster R. Fuller's: 'Precessional effect of getting something started or done' was the secret I found in Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich Book.
From that point onwards comes that beautiful quote from W.N. Murray: '…..A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
