Discover How Living By This One Principle Will Instantly Create Extreme Happiness And Success In Your Life

Whatever situation you’re in, it’s not the situation. It’s how you respond to the situation that determines your life.
That means you have got to practice being the wizard, the one who goes with the flow…the one who is attraction-based…the one who is able to allow things to unfold, who is patient…the one who breathes a lot and maintains their happiness no matter what chaos is going on.
If you are one of the millions of people out there who derives your satisfaction and happiness from how well you’re doing, you will not be a happy person for a lot of your life because then you will have the type of mind that is always looking for what’s wrong, so you cannot win.
I was one of these people who derived a lot of my happiness from my success. When I play golf, for example, I’m not really all that successful. The funny thing is that golf’s important to me, and I’m working on it the best I can, but I find myself stressed out playing golf. Why is that? It’s supposed to be an enjoyable game.
It’s because I want to do well, and if I don’t do well I’m not happy with myself. It’s the same thing with business and every other part of your life.
About three weeks ago, I played golf. In golf you play 18 holes. There’s a front nine and the back nine. On the back nine, I played better than I had in 20 years. I thought, “Oh my god! Who is this guy playing all of a sudden?” Everything I was doing was working.
At the end of it I was happy, but then right away my mind went into thinking, “This isn’t going to last. You’d better get ready for disappointment because next time it isn’t going to be so easy. It took 20 years to have a round like this.”
Of course, the next time I played I wasn’t quite as good, and I was not happy again. I said, “I should just give up this game. It’s really stupid. It’s not good for my back.” I started to make myself crazy.
This is what everybody tends to do. It’s not “the golf.” It’s me.
I’m going to give you a tip that will change your life. If you can grow yourself to a person that is bigger than any of your problems, you’ll be a happy person. If you can grow yourself to the person that is the wizard, a person who succeeds with elegance and joy; you will be a person that is bothered by very little.
If you can be that kind of person, then you’ll have the biggest success of life, which is to grow yourself to the highest level that is more successful than anything you could do with business, money or any other situation. If you can grow yourself to that level, you will be successful at anything you do.
Unsuccessful people are smaller than their problems.
Now I want you to think about something for a moment…
If you’re still with me, then maybe you can handle what I’ll call the truth for most people. Most people just can’t handle it. However, I think you reading this puts you into a class of people that can.
I want to ask you a hard question: what are you really like when life gets hard? What do you do or not do when the going is not so good?
Successful people dig deep and do whatever it takes, and I mean whatever it takes, to succeed. What do unsuccessful people do?
They do what they always do when it gets hard. They quit, give up and say, “This business is too hard. This company has this problem. The product has this problem. If I went over there to that other company or business, then I could really succeed.”
It’s the old “there is better than here” excuse. In other words, the grass is greener. Here’s the reality, my friends, like it or not. If you can’t make it here, you won’t make it there or anywhere else.
It’s not about the other company or business. It’s about the you that’s going to either be bigger or smaller than any challenge life has to give you; happy and successful or side-railed by inevitable bumps along the way. The choice is always yours.
Tell us what you think. Share your experiences of overcoming what seemed like insurmountable odds at a time in your life. What was the trigger or catalyst for you growing bigger than the challenge? Give us your story; we want to hear from you!
The answer… practice dealing with chaos and commit to seeing through anything you say you’re going to do… NO MATTER WHAT.
Which is something I teach on one of my favorite web classes…

For Your Freedom,

Why I want to be bigger than challenge?
Do i want to be bigger just to be big, for Me? or
Do i want to be bigger for purpose, that is bigger than challenge? for Me and beyond me – others. Whats My “Why”.
You just changed the subject from how to become why
If I may, it depends, it is all up to you.it is your privilege and responsibility to live the life the way you design
is “Why” a technique to avoid looking at the “how” ? If your asking why you are not looking at how you are responding. We avoid doing things we don’t want to do in many strange ways!
I meant that Why comes first, how comes second. Speaking from personal experience. Best Regards.
Every Situation is perfect and has its place, because life is a moving canvas not a snap shot, i can move up or down, so every situation is a launchpad for success and therefore i must remain happy in every situation 🙂
I think Harv is trying to say that we have to recognize that our happiness is first and foremost a result of our own thinking. Therefore the person that feels the pressures of life at the slightest change or bump on the road, will have the natural tendency to stop or quit
I agree with you Marianne on the Why. The WHY is important to understand the value of the underlying goal. Without a strong WHY, people look at the exit, with the intention to stop
You have to check some videos of Steve jobs on that matter. They are extremely formative
I am in such a challenge right now. I discovered that I fear getting much money. I am actually in the phase of getting some very easy money soon. After having built it up for a year, I will now be able to touch a nice amount month after month, for only 10 minutes of my time per day. However, this total unrational fear (for sure nothing is going to hurt me when I have more money!) is so big that I have to go for the toilet constantly and that I sometimes wish I did not start this income flow at all. Knowing that this is a lesson I have to learn, I will use it to overcome this bad fear, no matter what it takes. I think I am already almost half through, it has diminished slightly since Monday. Let’s see who is bigger, the challenge or me. I have a guess who will win. And then I will be ready for more…
Frank,
Thats awesome a lot of people (including myself is working for that!!) you should celebrate and then pay it forward…..find a good cause and donate to it this …I GUARANTEE!! will help….GOD Bless…..Steve
I simply practice gratitude daily and it makes me see how every moment has something to be grateful because every moment is life and life is always teaching!
Thank you Harv!
Experiences of overcoming what seemed like insurmountable odds. …..
I just kept going. I was swimming and couldn’t reach the bank. I just kept swimming, ….. and kept swimming …. until eventually my fingers touched the rocks and I could stand up.
Wow, good job! It’s so good to read your words, thanks!
I was fostering for 2 years had bad fall out with bosses as they said I crossed the boundaries so now can’t get references so can’t get jobs. I’m now getting more in debt to live. Help!!! I’m drowning
Hi Liz
Can feel your pain! When I’ve been in situations like yours… I sit and write down all the problems created by the situations… Then grab a glass of wine, glue myself to the chair and start writing the benefit of having that problem. I was taught a long while back the world is Ying ‘n Yang… For every negative there’s a positive… So I keep working till I find them. It’s not easy! In fact it’s bloody challenging… But it works! Then you have a clue to “where to next”!
I feel your condition with considerable pain at heart, because my son was going through a similar such situation. After actively searching for a radical solution (not simply pieces of advice), we fortunately found a simple chanting to practise daily morning and evening. Believe me the situation is improving miraculously. Sounding ridiculous? I as a scientist thought so first. But, desperation led us to give a shot at this chanting practice, which is practised worldwide by Nichiren Buddhists of SGI, for example. No money for attending training courses or any other cumbersome burdens involved; amazing Buddhist practice based on the understanding that whatever is happening outside of you is mirror reflection of your past negative karma stored in your inner core. The chanting clears the karma, gives tremendous positive energy to challenge and change your situation. If you have a nearby SGI (Soka Gakkai International) centre, you may please contact them; they will be ready to help you in the chanting practice and further assistance. Like the chanting practice, SGI as an organisation is amazing; they do not look for any material gains at the time of someone’s suffering. Hope to see you triumph in life, career and your future. Blessings!
So true! I think we all need reminding and need a good pep talk now and again.
My experiencie is about my business..It’s has been 12 years that I started..I love what I do, but sometimes it aint easy..some of my friends often ask me How and why do I still keep working at it…Simple, because I will never give up cause some of the things that I have to do, decided, go forward, get out (some clients its better get out then keep pushing)…Most of that time is awesome, some, is not..but I do even so..Why..BECAUSE I belive…Be Patient and pro activit ..Thank’s for another lesson Harv
Attitude is almost everything. But there are times to hold ’em, and times to fold ’em. Sometimes you just don’t have the right talent; as with the golf example. In that case, move on.
It is not by choice people can be happy. Our state of mind is determined by our consciousness that resides in our subconscious mind. Reprogramming the subconscious is the key to creating long lasting happiness. That is why I go straight to the root of the problem and deal with it there.
I don’t believe that. I totally believe EVERYTHING in life is a choice, especially how we react to anything. When my 2 year old was diagnosed with cancer (20 years ago), I had never heard of Law of Attraction, I just knew it was a “bump in the road”. I did what needed to be done and moved on. If I have a problem with money, I think, “It’s fine, it’s fine, it’s always fine.” And it IS! Being happy is a choice, just like loving someone is a choice. You can choose to love your spouse and you get closer; or you can focus on the little annoying things (there are always some) and you’ll end up hating him and wanting a divorce in a week. Everything is a matter of choice.
Really, what i’m strongly agree,Whatever situation you’re in, it’s not the situation. It’s how you respond to the situation that determines your life. And finally our result determined by our response,If i response the one who goes with the flow…the one who is attraction-based…the one who is able to allow things to unfold, who is patient…the one who breathes a lot and maintains their happiness no matter what chaos is going on.
Thanks a lot for this great lessn Harv. A teacher will appear when the studend is ready. This is exactely the answer to the question in my mind right now.
I am Getting to a point in my life where I realize that I need to be true to myself and believe that even in this situation I am not alone and I am that abundance is awakening within me !Thank you Harv for your encouraging words 🙂
Once you understand that happiness comes from the inside, then you’re ready to become the wizard Harv talks about. So how can you generate happiness even when things are not going well? The answer is ‘the attitude of gratitude’. I’m including the link to a blog I wrote a while back. Enjoy!

When life gets hard, I find out what it causing it, how to change my perception, and I change my actions and. Simple as that.
I think that life is a series of tests. When you pass one you become better and better, and your life advances in either a positive direction or spirals downward. It all depends what attitude you choose.Helping others will enrich your life like nothing else can.And I would say never compare yourself to anybody else, because YOU ARE ENOUGH ,just take action.
Good answer. Every time I move forward I am tested. And generally I fail the test and have to retake it.
Thank you Harv. I find that being present helps a lot because, most people are feeling guilty about the past or worried about the future. But, right now all is well.
i love my life
and when it is hard
i´m singing
and i´m doing what i have to do
i have only one
it´s a present
so i can do the next step
thank you
But HOW do I become the wizard?
This is all nice talking but how do I grow bigger?
Ha, that’s incredible. I was thinking about this exact topic today. I was thinking about how you say that if you’re a person who’s at level 3, then a level 7 problem is difficult, but if you’re at level 7, then a level 3 problem is a piece of cake. I was asking myself what level I was at. Thanks for the continued inspiration Harv.
I am looking forward for interesting lesson. Thank you.
One needs to feel when the natural effort to change a situation or self becomes a struggle and then quit. When you face a difficult situation, you need to accept the challenge with gratitude, then try to solve it if you can, or else leave. All the rest is madness – Eckhart Tolle. I trust this guy. SOme fine tunning needed in the text or maybe it was done on purpose to join the e-mail list :-))
I decided to do an Ironman. At the time I had never run farther than 8 miles and never biked more than 50. I was in a lot of debt and did not have the money to get my equipment, fly to the event. So I trained every week for over a year. I joined a very intimidating bike team. I did a fund raiser. I announced my intention to everyone. I got sick, had to supplement and change my entire diet. I completely changed my body and I got the funding and I did the Ironman in 16 hours and 12 minutes.
It is amazing teaching. Thank you very much. This my year of been happy always.
I started practicing Yoga in 2003 and my teacher used to always tell me “Your personal best improves all the time.” My teacher retired at the age of 86 years old and now I have a new teacher and a new class so I feel like I am back at square one, a beginner again. I’m so grateful I hear my former teacher’s words in my head.
I started in recovery work and there I learned “progress not perfection”; I learned that my willingness to keep moving forward in a positive direction was good enough. Prior to my entrance into recovery work, I did not laugh at all for about three years, I did not think it was funny at all. Now I can laugh again.
I am gentler with myself these days; and I notice that I am able to be gentler with others.
Thanks for this topic, great writing.
Susie! Thank you for sharing those ‘words of wisdom’ from your teacher! The succinct way your teacher worded these basic truths is something I am going to commit to my personal store of ‘wise words’! I already embrace these concepts; just did not have the right phrase to clearly express it, especially when I am endeavoring to pass on my experiences to the next generation!
Excellent article from Harv & insightful comments from all……..
