The No. 1 Principle To Guarantee Success In Life: Never Climb A “Mountain” Without A Guide

Whether it’s climbing Mt. Everest or any other challenging mountain it’s not safe to scale it alone.
The potential for danger is high; and like most journeys in life, having someone with you who’s been there before and who has your back — to guide you, encourage you to climb higher, and to warn you of any roadblocks or dangers — is critical to your success.
Guides make all mountaintops attainable. And the same goes for success and building wealth.
Having guides, coaches, or teachers to help you climb that mountain of financial freedom is one of the most important principles to guarantee your life success.
Learn And Model From Others Who Have Succeeded Before You
What does “model” mean?
It means to emulate or follow someone else’s method.
If you were to climb Mt. Everest, would you try finding your own way up the whole mountain on your own? Or would you maybe get an experienced guide to show you the way and lead you up the mountain?
I think you’d get a guide, yes? Why? Because otherwise you’d be dead.
It’s really simple. It’s no different when it comes to success in any field of endeavor. Why on earth would you try to figure everything out on your own when you can learn from others who have succeeded before you?
That is one of the best things about the network marketing industry, for example.
In what other business would other people who sell the same product as you, actually do whatever they can to help you? It would never happen. People selling the same stuff as you would usually never help you.
Yet there are tons of people in the network marketing industry earning $20,000, $50,000, $100,000 or more per month.
Why isn’t everybody earning that kind of money in other industries?
It’s simple. They’re not willing to learn and follow the method to earn that kind of money, to be rich and financially free.
Why? Because they have to do it their way.
I’m not saying copy every blink the person who teaches you makes. But when climbing Mt. Everest, the difference between stepping directly in your sherpa’s footprint and 12 inches outside of it could be the difference between life and death.
I want to remind you of something I tell all of my students:
Your way has gotten you exactly where you are. I’m not saying that that’s bad, but it may not be all that fantastic either.
If you want something different, you’re going to need a new and different way. Your way doesn’t work like that.
You have to be willing to follow your teacher’s guidance to the letter and do it exactly the way that they tell you to do so.
You do that for a certain amount of time, then you can do it your way.
How much time do you try it their way? It’s simple. Until you’re rich! When you’re rich, then do it your own way. Until then, you do it the way of the person who is successful ahead of you.
Don’t be a smarty pants and say, “I know better. It’s my life, this works better.”
Well… I’ll say it again: Your way has gotten you exactly where you are. Are you happy with that?
Now I want to share with you one more bonus principle that radically changed my life and I believe it will do the same for you.
Rich And Financially Free People Admire Other Rich And Financially Free People
I want to share with you a philosophy that changed my life.
It comes from Huna, an ancient Hawaiian philosophy of life:
“Bless that which you want.”
If you see a beautiful car, bless that car and the owner of that car…
If you see a beautiful house, bless that house and the person who owns the house…
If you see somebody with a wonderful, amazing business, bless that business and that person…
Why? Because anything that you negate, you can never have.
It doesn’t mean don’t be uncritical of the principles of the rich and successful folks you admire, but even then, there’s no room for jealousy.
The more you can learn to admire their achievements, the more you will spiritually be open to learning how they did it.
So when you find a teacher, a coach, or a person in a field of area doing really well that you relate to…
- Learn and model from them
- Admire them
- Follow their lead and don’t veer from it until you’ve made it to the top!

Inspiring life long lesson. Thanks for sharing.
Inspiring and Motivating
Vishen Lakhiani, Lisa Nichols, Joe Dispenza. They have all taught me, within their field of knowledge that there is a better way, and they are all so inspiring!
Try again, as my first mail didn’t work.
Hy Harv, thanks for these wonderful words!
This is amazing! Since I started to get interested in the field of how money works, small amounts of money come from here and there. This is just the beginning. Thank you for your online mentoring! Sure, I had a lot of mentors in my life. But so far none for improving my skills with money.
I almost tried to understand sir what you are trying to make me fulfill,it’s all about self determination,,not trying to compare who is the person who most successful than me..but sir I never used to envade others,,if I talk to successfull people,i always used to copy there way,,caused if you admire unsuccessfull people you committed already a suicide life fall..and loss..that is why always when I talk to poor or people loosing hope I used to mention things and people who already have something to said,,like successfull businessman, professionals,or million ears,,cause I want them to hide to the weak feeling that same to the feeling I have..but I never show them that may too is like them,,cause I believe that if you are in a 10 idiots…unless one should have not,,so I apart myself with the people who brings me weak, the question sir,,why I probably hide from myself to pretend that I’m happy,,the adviser of weak,,,since I got the same way too,,you know sir, even I am not happy or succesful and always pray one of them will pursue and realise that being with me in there life is a big sacrifice to show and share the blessings of my strength and power of love, vision and understanding,,for myself is not enough to eat while others are in hungry,,I prepare to sacrifice for others,,than myself..now I remember my friend Dennis told me,,my parents and my imagination and dreams LOVE you’re SELF…hope you understand the worst thing I’ve done..thank you and forgive me sir,,,as I work in good job..I always love and obey they are the people who makes me motivate this passion of life,,,god bless sir

I remember YEARS ago listening to you on my MP3 player on my trampoline outside. I went on to retire myself under the age of 40. You were one of the guys that got my mindset where it needed to be to make this happen. Thank you! 🙂
My first dog taught me that when I chased him he ran. When I ran the other direction (home) he followed. Don’t chase. Be worthy of following.
GoI’d afternoon! I was recommended to buy your book; “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”, and I want to say thank you so much because it changed my life. I have the declarations on my bathroom mirror and recite them daily. I also put the mindset into practice. We know it works because you are super rich! ?
Hi T harv,
My extraordinary lesson from my dad, was to persever! For me that was the only thing I’d never worry about and now I’ll be come rich no matter what!
Hello Mr. Eker,
Thank you for sharing that philosophy… but my question is, how do you bless an object, like a beautiful house or car? Thank you for your reply.
It’s simple! Give a name to your dream car/house etc. And say “hey (name)…God bless”
Ive been watching T. Harv Eker here and there since he completely caught my attention in the big CD collection with Jo Polish on carpet cleaning he did. Unbelievable presentation, very inspiring but then I got lost in the wearing of 20 hats with only 16ish hours in a day to work. I see your emails come in and I have been dreaming about being rich for a long long time. I run a “successful” 3-5 employee operation including a secretary and 1 full time and 1-2 part time guys in the truck with a handful of guys I use here and there when I land a big one. My company is run out of my home and shop making just enough to get by for the most part. Established 2005 and I have never taken a loan. Every penny I have ever made for the; last 11 years is from carpet and floor cleaning. (11 years sober Easter 2005 alcohol and tobacco free) I have late model trucks and older equipment that does a solid excellent job but just looks old and underclass I suppose. I have the capability of putting a large crew together and doing large areas and making really good money but just never have enough jobs / job wise. I need to increase my sales program but just have been spinning my wheels for so long. I have been thinking about asking for help and just read your tip here on climbing the mountain. It kind of hit home so here I am. I have come to a point where I think I do need some help . I’m a gold mine waiting to happen but for whatever reason I can never get past and out of the comfort zone where at 49 years old with any savings being recycled in as working capital eventually not so much a comfort zone anymore. I need to duplicate what I have like 5 times. I survive on basically 10 recurring commercial accounts and all the stragglers. I mean if I just could double it to 20 accounts would be monumental I’m sure . Why do I sabotage my own success consistently? What would it take / cost for a one on one with the legend I seen on that stage in that CD collection so long ago? I do remember being very impressed. I also added up the total for the book sales you made after that speech as well and that was very impressive too. A money making machine. I can make a lot as well but every time I do big job I coast!! Until the money starts running out, then I go on a selling campaign, line up some jobs and the cycle continues. This is a spur of the moment splurge of my thoughts, thanks for any information you give me on how you guys can help or if Mr. Eker is available for a phone call or chat session. Regards.
Gordy
Have you done Harv’s programs, “The Spiritual Laws of Money,” and “Life Makeover Coaching,” and/or any of his other programs? I just saw that he was offering for people to join one such program for free on his weekly lesson after this one. He even has a free monthly “Tough Love Mentoring” conference call (with him) that is related to the Life Mentoring program. He’s becoming more accessible, but we have to make a step toward him to take advantage of the aids he is providing to his students. Good luck!
I really get blessed everyday reading from you. I am in the business of Mission Tours in Kenya apart from that i i also have an import company. i have been looking for a mentor but to me you are my mentor. currently i am reading your book ”The secret of Millionaire Mind” and it has really blown off my mind and i have declared though i stay in Kenya-Africa, i will never be poor. Poverty has destroyed our people and currently i am trying to bring up the youths and women in our villages by telling them ,this thing start from within before it manifest in the physical. God is faithful and may you continue impacting many lives especially Africa which has been behind for many years. Thank you and God bless you.
Many thankful for great things you do.
I’m the big fan of your best book ever.
“Secrets of Millionaire Mind”
So, waiting for the webinar this evening…
See you there!
Thanks Harv. I always try to take away at least one quote or saying from your posts and today this is the one “your way has gotten you exactly where you are”. Sometimes we just have to get out of our own way. If you want something to be different, then try the way that’s working, not your way. Too true. Thanks again.
Aaron.
Hi Harv, You said it many times during your trainings that I attended. One of the best I ever attended!!!!
It’s something you have ingrained in me, together with completing what you start, and more ….
It is such a wonderful post again that you share here. With many lessons in it.
Ahoo!
All good wishes and blesh you :)!!!!!!!!

Mount Everest – What a beautiful analogy Easy to remember and easy to follow. Thanks Harv.
I had a mentor who taught me how to get over a heart breaking relationship. I know it had nothing to do with money or what I wanted to do in live, but I’ve we’re talking about a guide or has been were I was, then this man taught me how to move on from being stuck in the emotions, hurt, resentment and pain that I was experiencing. So I would like to “bless” my mentor Dave for helping me get through that time in my life, and since then, I’ve never gotten stuck in the emotions, hurt, resentment or pain of any relationship that hasn’t worked out, whether personal or business.
would you please email me a link to the January 14 webinar?

Iswar,
Here is the replay: https://www.harvekeronline.com/freedomfirst-secure-recap/replay/ Be Well
My first mentor, Pera Novacovici from Romania. I learned from him that the doors I thought are closed for me, I can open them and walk in the biggest room in the world. He introduced me in what we call it: responsible life.
In December I was in Magalia, California and off of a street Skyway there is a street named “Ididitmyway”. So I told my kids that I went by “I did it my way” street and they started laughing, asking me how I knew that name so fast; they told me it took them months to figure out that street name.
I explained that I work with this population, and the reason I came across this population was because I was doing it my way also until it became apparent based on results that maybe my way was up for some improvement.
Now I have learned to sit down and listen to some suggestions that may help me improve how I am doing things. Sometimes in listening to others I realize how grateful I am that I didn’t have some of the thoughts I hear about.
This is a great topic, thanks for sharing.
Dear Harv,
Fantastic thought, I agree with you. Like its said” Doctors also need Doctors to treat them” But it is very difficult to find right one. I want to write a personal note to you, kindly share your email id.
thank you very much
If everything comes from our mindset, then maybe you can help me. I am 75, female and have had my more than adequate income discontinued. Cannot survive on $1,250.10 monthly Soc. Sec.
Can my thinking change these circumstances?
A very stressed Type 1 diabetic open to suggestions.
Carol
Survive in $400/month. My hard reality. But also the opportunity.
When I was an earlier sixth month age, my parents were my first guides., They gave me all those lovely things I was needing for live, laugh and love. God bless them now and wherever they are!
Hello T Harv and team, great to know some of your guidance. change a little bit of life each day. Thank you
